Review of 3 items for wheels and tires!

I decided to try a wheel cleaner that was for sale for $.99 at wal-mart. It is turtle waxes F21 wheel cleaner.

I also chose to try out the EZ-Detail Brush available at properautocare.com/EZdetail, $19.99 For motorcycles and engine detailing

and the OXO wheel brush from Adamspolishes.com, $9.95

and Granitize I-10 shape up dressing from Granitize.com $19.95/gallon
"An economical water base interior or exterior dressing. Contains penetrating agents. Provides a nice satin finish. Can be used on vinyl, rubber, leather and plastic."

Conclusion,

the turtle wax tire cleaner- seemed to brake up the brake dust pretty quickly, but it took almost a whole bottle to saturate all the wheels to be able to clean them. I used as the directions stated which was to spray and let dwell for a few seconds and hose off. I felt that when I sprayed the wheel with water before scrubbing after I sprayed them with Wheel cleaner the cleaner lathered better and was easier to spread with the OXO brush. Rating on cleaning 5/10, on price per use 2/10 (given that it was only $1.00 you could go either way)-Rather solventy smell-suggest mask

OXO wheels brush-Brush is very sturdy and well made. It is a bit heavy and the handle is thick making it uncomforatable to handle. The bristles are very soft, but they recoil quickly and fling product up at you very easily. Soft and nice construction, but the thickness and memory bristles make it dangerous and uncomforatable. overall 4/10

The EZ Detail brush was made for motorcycles to get all the nooks and crannys of the engine. The bristles claim to be scratch free but seem very stiff and hard. It was great for cleaning the inner wheel, but same as the OXO the recoil of the bristles made it dangerous if using a harsh cleaner (eye protection reccomended). I mean I was covered head to toe with black dots! IT was still a great tool, but messy. overall 6/10 minus the mess

The Granitize I-10 is my wheel well dressing of choice so I decided to use it on my tires. I applied by sraying a EO tire swipe and wiping the wheel. The prodcut streaks alot and does not dry quickly. It took 2-3 applications a tire to make a nice uniform shine. I would say the shine is close to BnB, shiney but not greasy. I prefer the look of Adams V.R.T better. I would not use I-10 on tires but is great for wells for the price effectiveness. overall 5/10 but I would use it only on wells. -Great Vanilla scent-

Good review, I have a meguiars brush like that that I bought at advanced, has worked wonders for me. Also have some sort of ez detail brush like that that we bought a long time ago that ive been using on our new jaguar to clean the inside of the rims.

Works great!

Again good reviews.

I thought the Meguiars wheel brush was too big to bend into tight places so I tried this one. I think they both work great, I love how they bend and make cleaning inside the rim much better.

And for all who will say "wheel wells, cough cough" lol I didn't spray them because I didn't want to get any on the tires and ruin the difference in tire dressings.

Is that a 6 series? Those are beautiful wheels!

I'm partial to Bmw's.

I'm liking the look of both dressings, but I'm also against dressings that take 3 applications to get right.

Ugh those rims are hidious

Thats right Joyride, that is a BMW 645ci with the 19" sport rims. Doc, really, you dont like those rims? I love them and they look even better when they are rolling down the street. But to each his own.

I like them also!!

Easy to clean.

Sorry to go off topic,

But I think those are very sporty rims made to go on a 6 series. They wouldn't look got on my 3 series, let alone any other car, but on the long sleek body of a 6 series, they look nice!

BUMP on the easy to clean comment!

Question?!? Was the spoke brush's bristles bendable to the point you were able to clean the part inside the wheel where the brake caliper is?

I can never hit that area.

Hey Joyride, I still have to call you and talk about the 330i! I will call you soon and we can talk about the 330, cant wait to pick one up. Those rims are very easy to clean inside and out. Anyone else feel that those brushes fling too much back at you?

Andrew

oh yeah it bends and compresses to be able to get between the calipers and wheels easily, it can go through a hole about the size of a penny! It is really incredible!

I think that woflgang brush looks like it has a metal rod through the center. The EZ brush and Megs have a rubber coated rod and and rubber tip.

Andrew

I love the EZ Detail brush for doing the inside of wheels. Very concentrated bristles, you barely see the core they are attached to. The tip is coated with rubber and I have never seen the brush scratch. One of my favorite tools, gets used every wash.

I appreciate the review and the comments on the products. From what was said I think the products that I am already using are better suited to my needs. Always good to get opinions of products.

There is one bad thing about this review. The EZ Detail brush sounds like a good brush to have in the arsenal of detailing tools. I do not have one. Now I need to figure out a way to afford one one. Your review reminded me that I need more work on technique for cleaning my wheels. :fear: :censored:  :noexpress :thanks
