I first say that I'm a huge Meguiar's fan, and I stock ALOT of their products, and we religiously use their products at my work.

Now, onto the review....

This is the worst piece of garbage I have ever put on my car. Honestly, I could probably use quick detailer + MF and take off more crap than this clay could (exaggeration, but you get the point). First time I used it on my hood, I did a pretty good job (in my opinion), thought it went pretty smoothly, until I felt the hood. WTF there's still a buncha crap on this hood, maybe this is just some really industrial strength stuff. So I go for a SECOND pass, nope, still there. So I take out my old Clay Magic bar, use that, and viola, smooth as glass. So now I'm thinking, well this IS the mild clay bar....maybe I can use it for something more mild, like dried on wax...

Fast forward to yesterday, I washed my car and was claying off some wax residue that I forgot about. And it requires ALOT of effort to get even that off, and it still doesn't do a very good job of that.

The clay itself is REALLY REALLY REALLY soft. After using it for a while, it'll seep into the cracks between your fingers, and then it'll stick there (I wear gloves when I clay) so you have to pry it off. It's so soft that it's hard to keep it in a manner that makes it easy to clay.

Overall I think this product is worthless, and I'm kinda (very) pissed off I spent 22 bucks on such a worthless product. I would try the agressive clay, but why bother, back to Clay Magic I go.

Notes-

Lubricant - Meguiar's Final Inspect

Towels - Meguiar's MF Towel

I'm glad you posted that.

I've had good luck with their agressive bar and totally disliked their older Overspray Clay (it worked but was impossible to use). I had never tried the mild clay and will make sure to pass on it.

I had a very good experience with the mild clay. My car felt unbelievably smooth after using it. It was easy to fold/ply and wasn't overly sticky (I like clay to be a bit sticky as I feel it is easier to hold and feel it helps it work). I did get the yellow hands afterwards, though. That was my only complaint.

yeah yeah, old topic, but products don't change that quickly. I have the Meguiars clay and am pretty happy with it. When I don't use Quik Detailer but use mildly soapy water, I get a little smearing on the paint, but it cleans up pretty easily when I wax. (I might have to try this again for better results with a different mixture) It leaves the paint smooth for me and it works pretty quickly. I haven't tried other products, though...so you might be better off with something else, but this is what I could find and it worked good for me.

Oops, I'm a retard. I was talking about Quik Clay which after more use seems to be a little too mild for a lot of stuff. I had the briliant idea of pushing it against a flat surface to get full coverage after I noticed that it didn't flatten to the paint and only part was contacting. (I pushed it against the glass) I thought I would get better coverage this way and it would be more effective. WRONG! It was even worse this way...pretty worthless. I guess the unevenness helps it. It still didn't seem to be able to remove the very last remains of a bug spatter...I guess I'll leave that to chemicals. Well, with more experience, I now think that Quik Clay (the only clay I've used) is (too) mild and (too) expensive.
