Review: HD UNO, HD Speed

My method is actually the same, full section pass, if it still needs to be broken down, I do another section pas without stopping. I rarely need to continue at this point as the 205 becomes clear and I'm just speading the oils around really. THe HD Polish I do the exact same way, but I stop at two to three section passes, it doesn't seem to flash or anything, I just stop. It's strange, the Polish comes out really clumpy and dry looking, but once applied, becomes very oily looking and wet.

I don't understand how "open time", which I think means the time before the compound/polish flashes, is necessarily a good thing. I personally don't want to spend 10 minutes polishing just one section, I like how 105 flashes quickly, but also cuts and levels very quickly, it's just the dust that annoys me. UNO, Polish, and Speed all seem to have endless flash times, I have to force myself to stop when I think it's good enough because otherwise, I'd sit there polishing one section for 30 minutes, if not more.

Well, it sounds like you are expecting a miracle. The used polish and paint has to go somewhere, it either dries like a wax, or stays workable, and easy to wipe off. If you use flash time as an indicator of how long you need to polish, then that's something that works for you. I personally prefer to know when to stop, and then wipe the residue off easily. For me, removing slightly moist residue is much easier than wiping off near concrete like residue, especially when it finds its way into every crack and crevice on a car.

I knew it was time to stop with 105 when I was playing JR chemist and adding baby oil or keeping a bucket of ONR to do wipedowns after I hit each panel.

My bottle of POLISH sure isn't dry looking. Weird.

Can you take a picture of a little amount as it comes out of the bottle?

Sure thing, I'll take a few pics tonight. When I try to squeeze the Polish onto the pad, it tends to curl up and go back onto the bottle cap, so I end up just rubbing it off onto the pad. I'll snap some pics though.

This isn't quite accurate either. 205 is non-diminishing so even when it goes clear, it's still cutting.

You're probably right, but once it becomes clear, I don't notice much if any cutting power. Might be the saturation of the pad at that point, I don't really know for sure.

Thomas, here are a couple pics showing how the Polish comes out clumpy and thick, it doesn't just pour out like I think it should. I have to wipe the cap on the pad to get it to come off.

Well, I found out that the cutting ability should be the same even if the product is thicker than what is "normal".

Did you get these for free?
