Returning to Zainotopia, have a few ?'s

Well when I first started with waxes and such not OTC I went with Zaino and loved it of course my paint was new at that time. I just got tired of the regimen and the Ten Commandments of Zaino and I learned about autopia:bow :xyxthumbs .



Since I've heard such good things about Z2 Pro I thought I might try it again on the wifeys vehicle.



Now that I have found the light with my PC and polish can I go straight to Zaino afterwards without bonding issues.



My current polish arsenal is DACP, SSR 2.5, SFP, VM and #80, any of these work well with Zaino for compatibility?





What is the Autopia ZFX method I keep reading about?







Also other than the enhanced curing time of ZFX is it neccessary any other benefits other than what Sal says:rolleyes: ?







I have a fresh bottle of Z6 and is the Z8 worth the money in terms of a sweet shine?

Alright let me retract that post, did some searching, imagine that I got answers from the search feature:o . Feel like a newb, my anxiousness got the better of me:D





I read that after polishing instead of washing I can use a 50:50 solution of water and alcohol, so what % of alcohol 50/90%?



Does a product like prepsol or such do a better job?
 
You can go straight to Zaino from SSR 2.5, from my experience.



ZFX is necessary the for the first coat, for the 10th coat, and/or when applying mulitple coats at one time.



*I* think Z8 is worth the money, and it seems that everyone else who has used it thinks so too.

Funny you said SSR2.5 I forgot to ask that since it doesn't contain fillers:)



Man I knew I should have ordered SSR1:( . Since I don't have SSR1, I have VM and SFP to step down to if neccesary, so can I just do a Alcohol wipedown after that, cause I know these have oils/fillers?

Or you could finish up with a Menzerna Polish. Like FP II, they don't leave anything behind!
 
Isopropyl alcohol 50:50 will do the job. Of course Prepsol will be better. Z6 after IPA or Prepsol wipedown.



ZFX not only gives you instant curing but also allows you to complete the whole LSP application in 1 day. :xyxthumbs. What I mean by that is you can apply up to 3 coats in 1 day. 3 coats of the Z2-PRO is all you need for best appearance and outstanding protection.



Sidenote: Z8 is a great addition to the Zaino system and finally a Zaino prep paint cleanser/polish will be released very soon (next 4-6 weeks). This will eliminated the IPA, Dawn wash, Prepsol and all pre-application cleansing of oils/silicones/fillers removal requirements when using non-water based polishes or SMR's. :bounce

So what strength of alcohol should I use for future reference other than Zaino when working with filler polishes?





If they have a AIO type cleaner coming out I will hold a bit and save on shipping

In the meantime can I use Z2 or Z5 that I have now w/o ZFX on a virgin surface?



Reason I ask is my ZFX dried out on me boy I was pissed:angry .

Their was a good 10-15 drops in there. Anyway to store this so it will keep better?

Alcohol:Water 50:50



You can use Z2/Z5 without ZFX but durability and appearance will suffer slightly.



(ZFX) Make sure the lid stays on tight and it's kept in a cool, dry place.
 
:D I must sound like a tool I know its a 50:50 ratio but what about the strength of alcohol. They sell it at 50% or so and then I believe up to 90%:p . Probably thinkin' doesn't this guy get it its been said 5 times:o

Probably being anal but don't wanna make a trip to find out its too strong of alcohol,(don't know if it matters) most places sell only 50% I believe and thats blue and then 90% is red. Thanks for the reply man:xyxthumbs
 
ISA is usually sold at a 70% concentration. So 50/50 is probably 35% Alcohol. (if it was ethyl that would still be 70 proof stuff :) I use the ISA / water just to keep working the polish down finer.(keep the polish moist longer;workable) The finer the polish breaks down, the more smooth the paint becomes.
 
OTC isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) is normally 70%. Mixed 70% IPA at a 1:1 ratio with water. This is not an exact mixture requirement, but this dilution seems to universally achieve the desired results.

For best results one must use either Z1 or ZFX. When using neither the "system" is compromised and finally results flawed.



The Zaino paint cleanser/ polish works better, with Zaino system, than AIO and produces a slicker and deeper finish than AIO. Zaino paint cleanser/polish (ZCP) allows the Z polishes to bond directly to the prepped surface.

ZCP has diminishing abrasives, water-based and VOC compliant. It is as easy to use as VM, 1ZMP, UPP and WG polish and P21S GECP, can be applied by hand, PC or rotary, I did not notice any trim staining when removed in a timely manner, no gumming, and it is a breeze to buff off any remaining residue.



The final gap in the Zaino system is now plugged. :woot:

I guess I will put off that strip a little while longer to get a total Z system detail... How Long do I have to wait this time?:xyxthumbs
 
I'm in total agreement with tripper..........

BlkZ28Conv is a great source of Zaino info! In fact, the "BlkZ" is a tremendous resource for all of us "Autpoians" to learn from. I have to mention "Scottwax" & "TOGWT" as well. Thanks guys!

Sal listens and has / will provide such a product with real cleansing/polishing diminishing abrasives. Not chemical cleansers. A true final polish. :cool:

This is as definite as our love for keeping our vehicles clean and protected and our endless venture to find the "ultimate" shine.
