Restoring a 1997 Honda Civic hatchback

This car started out really ugly. My buddy bought it for $2000 with a B16 engine in it and crashed in the front.

Towing it from the sellers house:

Skip a few months. My buddy stripped the car to the frame. In the process he found an old, used marijuana pipe hidden in the back seat!!! Imagine if he would have gone through a border checkpoint like that!

Got it painted (paint job cost more than the car itself)

Pulled out the old, tired B16 engine and dropped in a freshly rebuilt LS VTEC 1.8L

2000 front end with new radiator support

It just got wetsanded and waxed with some Allbrite liquid wax

Notice the FAL plastic windows in back. It is going to be a dedicated street racing warrior. (juust kidding) As soon as the new motor is broken in, the turbo kit is going on (its already waiting in the garage). Its already getting attention from the Police. We got pulled over and searched last weekend!!

All he needs is wheels. THESE ARE TEMPORARY WHEELS FOR THE PAINT JOB!!!! please dont hate!

Lost interest here.

Why not take it to the track? All people care about is what a car can do in a quarter-mile anyway. No need to endanger other peoples lives with petty street racing.

:lock:

street racing = lame, ricer, FTL

Track it and don't endager ppl's lives. We dont need any more bad rep to the Honda name. Damn ricers.

there are no shortage of proper tracks to run that car in southern california.

in san diego county... we have 1 track.

and its 1/8 mile track.

there is quite the shortage of tracks where i live...

but theres still many organized options available. autoX season has just started, and there are several tracks farther (very far) north as well... but its no excuse to take it to the streets

LOL @ street racing...good for you, street racing is where its at. *note sarcasm*

Mind telling me where your buddy got those windows from? I'd appreciate it!

Car looks great, anymore pics?

Nice looking EK. Too bad you guys got pulled over already... it seems street racing is still rampant down there.

No way in hell I'm moving down to S.D. just so I can get harassed by cops. I think I'll stay in NorCal.

It's pretty bad up here too. Just a few weeks ago we had a raid with helicopters and unmarked cars, it was just like out of a movie.

Funny story actually, a garbage truck driver was charged under the new street racing law we have here.

yeah we used to have choppers and road blocks and all that..... ended around 1999 when police really cracked down, they made a team called "DRAGNET" and started impounding cars just for WATCHING races!!
