Replacing 3-Prong Electrical Plug

Every plug or electrical work I've done when it comes to a 110 line, the black/hot wire always went to gold/brass. The ground in many plugs has a green screw, and the white wire always went to silver. I always assumed the w was for white too.

AC current being "alternating current" I would guess that having the two wires reversed shouldn't be an issue. Since the electricity is constantly changing direction 60 times/second on a standard 110v 60hz power source (your normal household line in the US).

DC current is a different story, switch those wires up and you fry something

Im done here, too many experts... :)
