Replacement for EF Clear Pearl

Geez, it's been awhile.....I've been reading posts looking for ideas for a replacement for EF Clear Pearl (finally running out of the gallon containers I had "in stock").....which I loved.....easy on, easy off.....no streaking......just a bit of carnauba......great for getting bird droppings....good lubricity.

Suggestions? FK 425 looks like a current favorite (no carnauba, but seems to work OK with a carnauba topper); CG Pro Detailer and Crystal Mist do have a bit of carnauba, though the latter can be more difficult to work with than CP. And what is OCW (can't seem to locate the decoding)?

The base I use currently is simply AIO (1-2X) plus p21S wax (though if I read enough posts, I will surely be tempted to try....yet again....other things :-)

Thanks in advance

OCW is the acronym for Optimum Car Wax which is in spray form and is a true wax, i.e. not a QD or QD/spray wax. It's meant as an lsp and performs very, very well as one in my opinion. Mothers Reflections also has a spray wax, but I've never used it before. I just know that the Reflections line in general is highly regarded.

Maybe consider Griot's Speed Shine. If I'm not mistaken, that is a QD that also contains some carnauba.

Yes, I agree with the Griot's Speed Shine suggestion. Griot's gets a bad rap around here mostly because of their prices being a little high, but Speed Shine is my favorite QD over a carnauba, period. I've currently got Pinnacle Signature Series as an LSP and I'm using OCW after each wash, and maintaining it with Speed Shine. I couldn't be happier with the ease and results.

The carnauba content in Speed Shine is quite low, less than 1%, but it absolutely does not streak, and its thicker consistency lends itself well to helping to minimize any marring. I have compared it directly to Eimann Fabrik Clear Pearl (thanks to a very generous Autopian who sent me a sample for free, THANK YOU AGAIN), and while the CP is a very nice QD, I much prefer the Speed Shine because of its thicker consistency.

I will say that I think the EFCP is a little more "shiney" than the Speed Shine, as I have found the Speed Shine to really just showcase your LSP in the end, not adding much of its own to the finish other than great slickness and excellent user friendliness.

If you're totally against Griot's for whatever reason, look into the Sonus Carnauba Spritz... it's got the same grade of carnauba as P21S does.

Also FWIW, I've personally found the FK1 425 a little hard to work with actually, however I think I'm the only one! It's also a very shiny, reflective type of finish. I've only used it over carnauba thus far.

As I use up my EFCP, I'm alternating back and forth between it and the SpeedShine. I agree that the SpeedShine is a similar product and that it's good stuff.

If I ever use up all m EFCP and SpeedShine, I'll probably just use CM on the Jag and FK 425 on everything else. But if you like EFCP the SpeedShine might be worth trying.

CG Pro Detailer and Poorboy's Spray and Wipe are my go-to QD's. Pro Detailer doesn't meet my needs that well because I don't use carnauba waxes (I use sealants instead), but it cleans as well as Poorboy's S&W while at the same time leaving some carnauba protection. Try diluting it 2product:1water to reduce streaking.

IMO, stick with Pro Detailer.

If you like the look of Crystal Mist, you might consider giving Sonus Carnauba Spritz a try. It reminded me of an easier-to-work-with version of CM . . .

Spilchy- That new EF product sounds more like FK 425 to me. Not that that's a *bad* thing, but still different from the carnauba-based QDs. I guess I'm really splitting hairs here, but you know...

Tort- Thanks for metioning the Sonus. With all the stuff on the market these days that one had completely slipped my mind.

But I'm kinda goofy about the Jag, I just like using the same old stuff on it...part of the time-machine effect I guess.

Thanks folks for the suggestions....I'll give the Griot's a try, as well as one or two of the other suggestions.

Spilchy......... I had called properautocare about the EFCP replacement produt.....seems they had to reduce the VOC content to comply with California standards.....may change the ease with which it comes off, don't know for sure.....but, in any case, it's odd that they indicate that the replacement is not used as a typical QD. The same VOC argument resulted in EF Clear Vision being discontinued.........so I was "forced" to discover Stoner's IG, which is a very good product that I would not otherwise have tried.
