Repainting

Hey Guys- I was was wondering if anybody has ever seen any work done by Maaco. I know they have price packages from a few hundred bucks to thousands... I am wanting to repaint my Tahoe, it has some rust spots from off-roading (rocks, trees, ect) and i was just wondering if they did good work.. I am goin to keep the same color (black) so, so i am guessin just one coat of paint then like a clear coat. I was thinking that the Supreme package would be best for me, http://www.maaco.com/pages/Paint.htm is the website.. Thanks guys for your help.. Oh and it is a 1996 Chevy Tahoe.. The paint is in fare condition.. like i said, alot of scrathes and some rust.. thanks Blake
 
I think from looking at the site that you will want to go with the signature package. It didnt look like the Supreme give you a BC/CC finish. Im pretty sure the tahoe has a BC/CC finish so to match that I think you will need to go with the signature. I am not paint guru by any means so if someone can correct me then please do.

Well, I can't say from my own personal experience, but I've never heard anything good about Maaco. Now maybe that's just here where I am, but I'm always a little leary of any company that will paint a car for a couple hundred bucks. Even if your getting a higher grade package, chances are you're getting the same kind of care as the guy getting the couple hundred dollar job. I always look around town for paint shops with good reputations and then visit and get quotes from a few before deciding, but that's just me.
 
There's one close to my building downtown and I have seen them "at work." I wouldn't take my vehicle there. I have seen the finished product and it is nowhere near DC citizen standards. If your 1996 paint is in fair condition, I think you'd be better off leaving it alone versus taking it to the one here. Just my $.02.
 
Ok this is what I know.Have a friend that is painter for maaco and does
great work,problem is the prep work that is done before painting is the
key to a good job. vehicles that have been repaired/sanded and ready
for paint come out really nice. The prices advertised do not include good
prep work so your getting what you pay for.If you have rust then this must
be taken care of correctly first then any other deep scratches and flaws
in the paint taken care of, then take it to maaco.If you can avoid weeks/
months with alot of humidity do it, humidity causes fish-eye in the paint and most places don't do anything to correct this problem.Your left with a mess
of a paint job.
