Removing window tint glue

To clean tinted windows, ammonia can react to window tinting materials and you will see a degrade in appearance. In fact, the best thing to clean your windows with is warm, soapy water and a nice soft cloth.

But we are talking about removing tint here...not cleaning it. :think:



I worked in a tinting shop for about 16 months and even trained with one of the guys for a few weeks. When they had to remove old tint and the glue was left behind, they used an ammonia based window cleaner to soften the glue, then they scraped it off using a razor blade and steel wool for the back glass with defroster lines.

One thing that worked great for me was acetone, rubber gloves, and a lot of rags. Used one to dribble it on and wipe the glue with. It took about 5 mins to get both my front windows completely clean from the glue. I took the extra rags and covered the door panels with to keep from getting it on my panels but man that made it easy to get the glue off. Goo Gone, amonia, and soapy water with razor blades did not work for me at all
