Removing window tint glue

So i had to remove the tint on my car now that im back in Mass, from Florida. What can i use to get the glue off?



Ive tried alcohol and amonia, not much luck.
 
Use a hair dryer on high for a few minutes to heat the glue. Then peel off the film. The remaining glue that is left on the window can be removed very easily by spritzing with Goo Gone and scraping with a plastic razor blade.
 
If you've already removed the tint, but left the glue behind...you're going to have one heck of a mess. You will also spend about 3 hours to get all of it off. I would use a steamer and a plastic blade. I had this happen to me in November. It's a PITA. You're best best, I've learned is to steam the window (tint side and tint still on) and peel. You will get almost all of it off at the same time with almost zero residue in about 40 minutes for a whole car.

Mineral spirits will take that right off. Put some on a rag and lay the rag against the window for 30 seconds and it will soften and dissolve glue. Then you just wipe it up. You'll go through a few rags as they will get saturated with glue residue.
 
Most people used dilluted amonia and a razor blade. Don't use a razor blade on the rear window defroster however.

The ammonia softens the glue and the razor easily scrapes it off. I've used #0000 steel wool for the back glass that has defroster lines...messy but it works pretty well.
 
I just removed ours. Film came right off - Sprayed some HD APC on the windows, left it for a few minutes and used a blade to get the residue off. Not messy at all. Came off very easy.

This is what I use, just a half of tea spoon of plain old dishwashing soap in a spay bottle of water, lightly mist the windows and gently remove with a razor blade. Been tinting & removing it this way for years.
 
I have this same problem. The tint that was on my accord when I bought it is really weird and hazy....can't even tell what kind of car is behind me when looking in the mirror. I'm going to remove it this spring and plan to use the steamer method. I've heard of a few people doing this with success. Side windows are easy (done it before) because you can use a razor blade.



Oh, and I will be using a $15-20 fabric steamer from walmart....so hopefully that works well...iff all else some goo gone and patience should do the trick.
 
use a garbage bag and some soapy water, if you haven't taken it off yet. if you have soapy water and a razor blade works well

ok........listen to me very carefully. you will be oh so glad u did.. Get yourself a spray bottle and mix about 3 parts amonia to 1 part water. Then get yourself some black garbage bags. Cut the gargage bags to a bout a little bit bigger than your windows u wanna strip.



make sure it is hot and sunny out. take your amonia mix and spray and soak the entire inside of the window.....(drench it!!) and then take ur garbage bag and paste it on the inside of the window. do this for all your windows that are tinted and let it sit out in the sun for about an hour or 2. I let mine sit for an hour n a half and my back window i let sit for about 2 hours. take ur garbage bags off and grab a corner of the tint and pull away. the **** will come off with no glue residue what so ever.
