removing water spots by hand?

if they are just near surface try AIO or any good paint cleaner, Scratch x if they are pretty bad, hope they are not through the clear.

meguiars.com has good how to's on using scratch x.

use Meg's deep crystal paint cleaner or if you can get it P21S piant cleanser you need some type of chemical cleaner to get it out.

i would mix my polish,,,with some laquer thinner and apply and rub hard and do several times and if it is not that deep the spots should move

I had compiled these steps..more or less in order of aggressiveness

1) Instant Detailer (not likely if they're old spots)

2) White Vinegar 50/50 with distilled water or a dedicated water spot remover like DG water spot remover- has usually made recent ones less obvious at worst

3) Cleaner/Wax product

4) Clay Bar

5) Paint cleaner polish

6) Scratch remover product by hand

7) Polish by machine

A nice picture would help! But I just detailed a car and just left some spots, as they seem to be to far down (past the clear), I think they were bird bombs that sat all summer long. just to think any rag and any QD could have prevented this.

If it has etched the paint you probably willl need a machine to smooth them over. If they are minerals sitting on the paint surface try vinegar.
