Removing tiny rust spots?

I was detailing an 01 Maxima today and found that it had a bunch of little rust spots all over it. After probably an hour or so with my clay magic they came off. My question is, is there a faster way to get rid of these? I don't mind claying but it is a bit more time consuming then I'd prefer. Thanks for the help.

Those little spots are most likely Industial Fall Out and other contaminants . The best way to rid the surface is by claying . Once you get the surface protected you wont have to clay as much . However depending where you live has more to do with how much Fall Out your car is exposed too.

Clay is pretty much the fastest and easiest way to do it. Like I posted on Autopia, the rust dots can be removed by any paint cleaner. The clay is pulling the metal out of the paint that is causing the rust dots. You should always clay before using the paint cleaner. Its like pulling the sliver out of your finger before you use the hydrogen peroxide. Anyway, clay is the fastest way to get those particles out. You could do the whole acid bath thing with the ABC stuff, but clay is just way easier and probably much cheaper.

I always use clay for those spots. Most probably rail dust from when the vehicle wash transported.

Autoint's ABC system is somewhat expensive. I haven't gotten to test it out on rail dust yet but next vehicle I find with it I'm going to try it out. I want to see how well it works.
