Removing swirls on chrome

socaltiger- Nope :( . The chrome on my XJS is swirled/scratched, too. As best I can tell there's nothing to do short of replating it. You can't really abrade down the areas surrounding the scratch as you would with paint to "polish out the swirl", although some chrome polishes seem to help a little bit. It's VERY rare to "polish out" a scratch/swirl in plating. The plating is hard and the top layer is usually thin and you sure wouldn't want to wear through it. Generally you're stuck with trying to hide the damage and prevent anything additional. Best thing I've come up with is to use a chrome polish/glaze/wax combo that a) cleans/brightens the chrome up as much as possible b) rounds the edges of the swirls/scratches a little bit c) fills in some of the swirls/scratches d) protects against more damage.
