Removing Seats

2005Accord

In bed with your wife
I did a Honda CRV (2005) this past weekend and a Honda Civic (1999). I took the seats out of the civic because I knew they were not hooked up to anything electrical.

My 2005 accord's passenger seat is hooked up to the air bag system. I looked at the passenger seat for the CRV and it is too. To be safe, I left the CRV's seats alone. Is there any thing I can do to safely remove the seats from a vehicle that IS attached to the electrical/safety systems?

Just pull the negative lead from the battery before you disconnect the seat's wiring harness. When you're done, plug everything back in and reconnect the battery. Just that easy.

My Envoy is the same way (has side airbags in the seats) and I've had the seats out of it before (actually, I swapped with a different set of seats from a different vehicle and had to transfer the air bags from one set of seats to the other). It's no big deal as long as you don't go shorting out a couple leads and pop the bag in your face (lol) :D

Shiny has it, also once you disconnect the battery just for safety sakes turn the headlights on to discharge any residual engery that is stored in the ECM.

I should have thought of that! LOL....Great advice guys. I prefer to take seats out when I vacuum cause it saves SOOOOO much time in the long run ;)

Thanks again :D
