Removing residue from clear decal?

Here's the story: The person that owned the car before me had one of those clear vinyl decals on the inside of my rear windshield. I had been meaning to remove it for a while, but wanted to be careful and make sure everything came off okay, so I had been putting it off. Well, my sister decided she'd help me by removing it for me. Unfortunately, some of the printing on the decal is still baked on the glass. Any ideas how to remove this? I was thinking maybe try claying it? Any other thoughts? Oh, and ignore the back seat...I've given up on it; it's too far gone to do anything except replace the leather, and if I went that route, I'd end up replacing most of the panels on the seatback (the part you see is far better off than the other side, believe me)...and that's not money I can justify spending on a 16-year old car with 220k miles that I'll only have for another year or so anyway.
