Removing oil spray from paint.

Hey,

I just had my car oil sprayed - to protect against rust - and was wondering what would be the best way to get the oil off of the body.

There are some streaks of oil along the door jams and the rear fenders.

Any help would be great.

Simon,

Is this a light oil or something that permanently coats the surface.

If it's just a light coating of oil or overspray and your car isn't currently dirty then use a QD.

If your car is dirty have you tried using just a car wash soap?

Simon- If it's the kind of oil that's USUALLY sprayed for rust prevention, the best thing is probably a good Dawn wash (or a mild citrus degreaser like P21S Total Auto Wash) of the affected areas, which will necessitate a re-wax unless you've applied a good sealant. Don't contaminate your (best) wash mitt with it and get it ALL off before drying the car. I'd park the car in the sun for a while so more excess oil drips/oozes out. It can take quite a while for it to quit showing up. A hassle, yes, but it beats rust.

That is what I was thinking. Thanks for the info. I'll try to use regular car wash soap and if that doesn't work - then on to the Dawn and rewax.
