Removing ice cream from upholstery

I've got a chocolate ice cream stain on my passenger seat, which is cloth covered.

I cleaned it with an uhpolstery cleaner, but the stain has come back. Evidently I didn't get all of it out.

I'm thinking of removing the fabric so that I can hand wash it and maybe clean up the foam rubber underneath somehow. It looks like the fabric is held in place with copper clips that I will have to unbend to remove.

Any thoughts on this plan?

i dont think that i would go to that extreme, do you have a shop vac or wet dry vac ? this is what i have done for a spot like that , just use some of the oxy clean mix (do a search here)or diluted woolite (10-1) and agitate lightly as to not disturb the finish on the cloth and vac out the mixture till its clean then one final rinse and vac out again, a self serve car wash has vac u can use for this, it only takes a small amount of cleaner ( be sure not to over wet the seat) let dry and u should be good to go, dont wait to long, older stains are harder to remove

Unless you have experience doing this I would not suggest it. Youâ€â„¢d be better off having the stain extracted. Either go to a pro shop that offers that service or try something like the Bissell Little Green machine:

Iâ€â„¢m not saying it isnâ€â„¢t doable, but if youâ€â„¢ve never done this before it can be tricky. Itâ€â„¢ll be a lot easier getting the old upholstery off than getting it back on correctly.

Taking seats apart is very time consuming and very hard to get it right without the right tools.

A wetdry vac would be ideal but in the first instance I would try some oxiclean

Okay, the seat is not designed for easy cleaning so I'll forget about taking it apart. I'll try cleaning it again with the fabric cleaner.

It's not uncommon to go over the stain many times. I had i stain today that took 5 passes. You will probably need some sort of extraction. If the ice cream has high milk solids, it might spoil and cause bad odors.
