Removal of stains on microfiber towels

I am having trouble getting black stains caused by door seals off my gold colored towels. I use the towels for door jams and sills only. I wash them in warm water using ALL Free & Clear detergent. I use one quarter of the detergent specified for a full load. I use vinegar in the rinse cycle and I re-rinse them. I was thinking of getting some Chemical Guys microfiber detergent.

Chemical Guys CWS_201_16 -Microfiber Rejuvenator Cleaning Detergent Concentrate (16 oz)



Have any of you guys used this product or other similar products that work better than regular clothes wash detergent?

I've used the CG microfiber cleaning detergent and it works very well. However, I think the BlackFire is better. No matter what you use, however, it is the prep work prior to wash that is important for stains such as you are describing. Just like prepping your paint prior to wax makes a huge difference, so is it with cleaning those kinds of stains out of microfiber.



Black stains from door seals are tough but you can try this: Immediately after using the towel place it in a bucket of very hot water mixed with oxyclean stain remover. I use the powder which may not be best for the microfiber but I really notice no difference when I use liquid oxyclean. Let soak for a couple hours with an occasional agitation that does little for the stains themselves but helps with any dirt and debris. Then wash in a dedicated microfiber detergent using twice the amount suggested. I believe CG calls for 2oz of product but if towels are still stained badly you can use 4oz with no trouble. I think the extra detergent helps with the most stubborn stains. This should help with new stains but the old ones that have already been "set" are probably there forever.



Having said all this, I must say that I recently started adding a single "Mighty Gel" pac of All Free washing detergent and the towels came out a bit cleaner and softer. I always give towels an extra rinse cycle using vinegar. I've only added the All gel pac a couple of times but I think I may be on to something. Worth a try!

I spray the stains immediately after they occur with PowerClean or some other potent APC. Sometimes I'll scrub with a denture brush, but you gotta be careful you don't overdo that and mess up the MF.



Some stains simply don't come out. I use the stained towels for those applications where the staining happens and IMO/IME most of the time those "black stains" don't have any functional effect anyhow.

Do you add the "Mighty Gel" Pac of All Free washing detergent in addition to microfiber detergent that is already in the wash or are you just using the "Mighty Gel" pac of All Free by its self?

Why don't you use some cheap Costco towels and throw them away when they get to dirty?

good point. i have a bucket of APC (usually 1z blitz waiting) to receive my dirty MF's

Why don't you use some cheap Costco towels and throw them away when they get to dirty?

...especially for door jam duty

While I do end up getting some staining from working in those areas, a good thorough cleaning *before* the MF is employed goes a long way. I do most of said cleaning with paintbrush-style BHBs.

If they get really soiled you might want to try some Dawn Power Dissolver. Here is what it did for me on a pad I was using to apply tire dressing. I applied the Dawn Power Dissolver to 1/2 of the pad and actually forgot about it and it sat for at least 24 - 48 hours. Hopefully your best MF's won't need anything like this, but for a stubborn stain you can't live with you can give it a shot. As always YMMV:
