Reminder Notices

Today I received a reminder notice from the vet that the cat is due her yearly check up and routine shots. Was I thinking about it? No, but it moved me set up an appointment. Got me to thinkin'.

Do any of you professionals send out notices to your customers that a three month, six month, yearly or whatever time frame for their car is due?

Perhaps that's not feasible...just a thought.

I knew a former Detaier that made a point of asking clients at the time of their detail if they would like a friendly reminder most said yes. When the reminder showed up they were not annoyed because they had opted in. He did his by email and thought it was one of those small things that made him money.

GearHead_1,

I always appreciate your quote and it so timely in respect to what is happening to our country now.

"A society willing to trade liberty for temporary security deserves neither and will lose both."

A tad off topic but I'm the op.

It's a good idea. I have a few clients that would really appreciate that, but at the same time they usually have me do something to their ride in between the time they will need a reminder for a reapplication of their wax, sealant, coating, etc. I'm interested in what others have to say about it.

'Trouble' posted a great idea like this before. He suggested to take a picture of the car after it's been freshly detailed, then a month or two later text them a picture of their clean car as a reminder for a maintenance detail. I shared the idea on Facebook and it was very popular.

This would be easy to organize if you keep track of customers info on a spreadsheet program like Google Documents along with Google Calendar.

Seems like great idea and with email and a well set up system should only take 15 minutes a week to do. Also you could do it from lap top or i pad sitting on the couch at home while watching one of the WIFE's shows so you get double points work done and HHH HUMMMMM quality time with the wife.

With email you can set up few Generic saved emails with most what you want to say in it the fill in the blanks add the picture and add little personalization to it and send.

I always try to keep good records on my clients - Addresses, Phone #'s, E-Mails along with a detailed account of what I did to their vehicle and when I did it. I like to follow up with an e-mail every 6 months/ year to remind them of any action that they need to consider to keep their car/truck protected and looking its best. I have always had positive results with this.

I've used email or text in the past. I have found IF someone is a regular detail type of person (who has the income for this service) will come back to me on a regular bases. Those that are one hit wonders or maybe selling the car, reminders are not effect or needed.

Basswood, getting a reminder about a Vet, Doctor, car maintenance, etc..is some what essential and most will book the appt there after...detailing to me is a luxury service to most people
