Anyone know anything about refrigerators?
Here's the situation. I have a bad _____ that controls the defrost. Don't know if it's the heating coil, timer or what, but it's obviously not defrosting. Took the inside back panel off in the freezer (it's a GE side by side) last night and the coils were solidly encased in ice. Defrosted them and it's working fine now.
Question is: How long will it take for them to frost over again? Days? Weeks? Months? I know it's partly a question of humidity, so I've shut off the ice maker (didn't use it anyway). The defrost w/ hairdryer is obviously a temporary fix, but just curious as to how 'temporary'.
BTW-the Internet is great for appliance repairs! My Neptune washer wasn't spinning a few weeks ago and to get it fixed was in the $450 range. Bought the parts off E-Bay ($36) and did it myself in about 30 minutes.
