Refreshing or Stupid? Political Question

I don't really like him that much, i rather see clinton go for it but if it comes down to it, i'll vote for him cause he's a democrat. And its time a democrat is president again.

No offense, but that is why things get all screwed up..... people voting strictly on party lines.

how is that scewy. You are voting for a political affiliation that mirrors as close as possible to your political, social, economic beliefs.

what are you suposed to do not vote if you don't like one of your parties candidates? That is as good as a vote for the opposition.

there is nothing screwy about voting party lines.

Because real life is more complicated than voting against set party "beliefs." Not to mention that both parties, especially the Republican party, are a poor excuse for what they should be. Republicans today are not real republicans, I'd describe more as spineless cowards who are the furthest thing from being American. In fact, I'd use the same description for modern "democrats" as well.

Voting along party lines means it doesn't matter who the candidate is. No thought is required for such an action; that's why it gets "screwy." Unfortunately, that's how it seems most people vote nowadays. Screw what the candidate actually believes, just go for whatever political party your father or grandfather happened to think was the best decades ago.

Our entire system and country is broken. I think we should've taken the advice of our early founding fathers and not even gotten into the political party system in the first place.

Good explanation. Too many people vote for who ever is affiliated with the party. They don't take the time to get to know the candidate. "I'm voting for this democrat because I'm a democrat" type thing.

how is that an explaination. You know the candidate based on his parties political affiliation. You know his individual platform based on his local stumping for office. What are you suposed to do if you do not like one part of his candidacy, vote for the opposite party? Come on, this is more centrist we can solve everything by disavowing everything bs.

Edit

don't get me wrong voting uniformed is darn near a sin. That being said. no candidate is perfect for everyone, you choose the candidate that fits your believes usually that is a party line. many times it is not. decrying someone for voting a party line is a poor generalization tactic.

Usually I feel like I'm simply voting for the best available option, not necessarily someone I can wholeheartedly endorse. I can't remember the last time I was excited about a candidate for president, at least not for one who made it to the final election.

In the last race where I voted for governor I voted for the candidate with whom I agreed less on the issues. Why? Simple, because I sincerely felt the other candidate was too young, too inexperienced, and not ready for that level of responsibility. The person I voted for lost the election, the young guy went into office, and IMHO he's now made a number of short-sighted decisions. Yes, I agree reasonably well with his basic platform, but I feel he hasn't done a decent job of fulfilling the office and carrying out his agenda. I'm not sure where things lay right now, but at points he's had the second lowest approval rating of any governor in the nation. I wish the other person had won in spite of the fact I disagree with her on more stuff, I was shocked the election turned out the way it did.
