Reflection pics. Before Autopia and after.

Here are a few reflection pics. The first pic is from last spring when I hadn't found Autopia yet...
 
This pic was taken today. 3 coats of 3M hand glaze and 2 coats of S100. Pretty big difference huh? Thanks fellow Autopians! I've learned so much in the short time I've been here!!!
 
Yea. Difference in cameras. The first pic was a crappy disposable and the second was with my friend's digital. The second pic was kind of in the shade...I took one from the other side, in the sun but it came out too light. Here's the one that I took on the other side of the car. It actually looks better on the camera than it does on the computer.

Is that an SVX behind you in the pic in the sun? It really looks like it, but i could be horribly off, considering it's 1:14am...and i didnt sleep last night...:eek: :p
 
I used to use Zaino (which I still LOVE BTW) but I didn't do any swirl removal or anything. I would just go from claying straight to Z2...which looked good at night and in the shade but the swirls were horrible in the sun. Also, I used to use an absorber which I NEVER cleaned.



Here's one more. This one is my favorite. I'm going to print this one on my bud's computer and hang it in my garage.

It's not a SVX...it's actually a white Dodge Neon. That family also owns the blue F150 in the shot. The guy also has a bad arse Harley that he hardly ever takes out, and he used to own two Mustangs. A blue hatchback and a black notchback. He sold both and bought the Harley. I'm gonna get some pics of the bike next time he has it out.

I started by claying the car to get a smooth finish. Then I used 3M FCRC by hand. I did one panel at a time and took a couple days to do the entire car. Then I used 3M SMR which took all the haze out. Then I went straight to 3M hand glaze. 1 coat every 24 hours, 3 coats total. Then to finish, I used 2 coats of S100. The layers were spaced 24 hours apart.



I could have done a cleaner step after the SMR but I was happy with the finish and went right to the glaze. The car is a garage queen so I don't care about how long the glaze or wax will last. I'll just re-apply in 6 weeks or so.



WRXemALL: Good eye! Yes those are 93' Cobra wheels but the taillights are 86 GT's. They are the only cosmetic items on the car. Other mods include 4.10 gears, 76mm MAF, 36# injectors, 255 in-tank pump, BBK headers, Dynomax h-pipe and mufflers, King cobra clutch, and a Paxton Novi 1000 pushing 9 psi. I'm still running stock heads, intake, cam, and throttle body. Those are the next things to go but that won't be until next winter. Here's a shot of the engine:
