this is the result of waxing with P21S, and finishing with Meguiars Quick Mist detail spray. Unfortunately the night before I had a bad experience with the self serve car wash..... :nono But was able to salvage the look of the car enough to get this finish. I have since gotten a 7424, and am trying to find the right polish to remove lots of scratches from my paint... I hate filling them, I want the paint to look pure, The less glaze the better IMO.

BTW after searching i havent found the best solution for an excellent compound for this color paint... any ideas?

thanks.... btw i just bought locally the 3M PFIII extra cut compound... they all swear by it, and say it cuts very fast, but not harsh at all. I plan on only using it in a few places on the deep scratches, also bought the AIO and glaze as well. Poor boys EX-P is on order to finish her up. Hope it comes out good

thanks.....

UH Oh, i just tried that 3m stuff by hand and..... not good. It scratched the sh!t out of my paint. I spent half hour tryin to cover it up, later tonight i gotta go over it with the machine i guess, i'll try again with the machine.

UPDATE

OK I used the machine with the 3M extra cut PFIII stuff, and it came out absulutely Beautiful.. I was really worried since it scratched by hand. With the machine and lots of product, it worked like nothing I've ever used. It even had some gloss to it afterwords. I wiped it down with water, and then polished with the white pad and Klasse AIO. Then the finishing pad and Klasse Sealant Glaze. It was hard getting the sealant glaze to wipe off. It hardened up solid and would NOT come off. I had to use a wet towel to wipe it off. NOW it looks "almost" perfect. I have EX-P on order to finish it up. There are still some scratches but that 3M will do the trick if I go over those spots again and concentrate. Right now the hood looks 50XXX better than during the Z fest show, and I took 1rst place in my class for that show!!!

I'm MarkY from the Z forum that asked you about your car. I've also ordered some EX-P for my wife's redline Z. I also ordered some Vanilla Moose. I'm still debating whether to apply the Vanilla Moose and top with EX-P or use AIO and top with EX-P.

My wife's car is only 3 weeks old and I'll probably use my Porter Cable with Mequires #9 first. Let's keep each other posted.

Is extra cut harsher or finer than the fine cut compound?

I have the same problem with SG, even applied _very_ thin. the only way the use of that product is bearable for me is the wipe on/wipe off method (no cure time allowed)

That depth looks amazing.

I saw that the pic said FL, so I looked over to see where you're from....and I'm like, what the hell are the odds of that!?!? 99.9% of people haven't even heard of Palm City, lol. Where in Palm City are you anyways?

I love that car/color!

Definately keep us posted with your detailing results. I can't wait for more pics.

small world, I see your from suffolk county (gsrstilez), I grew up in Sayville if that sounds familiar to you. And now I live in palm city florida, where another autopia member lives (mattZ28). Funny. well didnt mean to bring this post back from the past but I found it during a search, and realized I hadn't read everyone's replies and comments.

Thanks for the compliments on the Z guys. I am still learning daily and have my own little processes figured out. I have a normal procedure, a swirl removal procedure, and of course the horrible water spot thing I deal with. One day I may venture out and charge someone a little money to do a job, but for now its for the pure satisfaction of seeing a paintjob go from dull scratched to wet gloss.

That 3M Perfect It III Extra Cut is some seriously abrasive stuff. It's liquid sand paper. Always use the least abrasive method to get the results you want. I would have tried a less abrasive product first. 3M Perfect It III Rubbing Compound and Machine Glaze are two excellent products. I would stay away from the Extra Cut you can do some damage with that.
