Rediscovered my love for Zaino this weekend!

Well, after having some disappointing results with ZFX. I went back to the good old fashioned way of applying Zaino. More specifically, I let the Z5 set in for about 6 hours and wiped it off with cotton (not microfiber).

What I discovered was a much deeper, cleaner shine.

Not sure why ZFX didn't work for me, but I can't wait until next weekend to add some more coats!

I did the same thing recently.:D

I was a little disappointed in the whole Z5/Zfx look(and yes, I can really tell the difference in shine between Z5 and Z2. The Z5 produces a 'softer' sheen, much like a carnauba, whilst the Z2 adds the sharper reflections and crispness:xyxthumbs ).

So, I've just been throwing on a layer of Z2 each day. I really noticed a difference, much like the when I first applied it(then got hooked...lol).

Post some pics!

:wavey

People were speculating if there was something new about the Z5. I used Z2/ZFX a few weeks back without any trouble.

Pics hopefully coming soon once I get the digicam back from my wife!

Dale!!! Haha... nice to hear from you again. How's the westside of the tc's treating you these days... btw thanks for the all the detailing stuff you gave me... still use my Wizard's Mist N' Shineon the rims!

Agreed, I've gone back to doing single coats per day w/o ZFX. To my eyes, 3 coats in a day with ZFX just isn't as nice as 3 applied on successive days.

Tried doing a single Z5 coat with 2 drops of ZFX in a little under 1/2 oz of polish. It was dry in about 15 min but I let it sit 2 hrs (about same length of time I let it dry without ZFX) to get an accurate comparison. Didn't seem quite as nice, difference is subtle but still there.

I'm going for that deep, shiney "dipped in glass" look. Seems to me that the accellerated cure time of ZFX takes a little away from that.

Will experiment more when I have time but for now it's back to the good old fashioned way for me.

I agree. After one week of comparing my wife's brand new silver MBZ with my silver audi, I notice a striking difference between Z5 with zfx and z5 without.

Seems like the Z5 without has a more wet appearance.

Oh well, it just means that I can look forward to adding new coats every week or so! :)

Nice pic! I do like the new RSX's a lot. I tried to convince my wife to get that over the MBZ C Coupe, but she when with the MBZ.

EGAD!!!! Hugh! That pic is way too awesome!!!! SEe, I'm having problems calibrating my eyes to distinguish what the Carnauba look and the Zaino are. I've ready a lot of post here and seen a lot of pics... But for some reason I get confused at the end..

Okay so that's the Zaino "dipped in glass" look. All I have to do now is try to compare that silver to my "klassed and Paste glaz" look on my car.

I think I should have gone with the Zaino.

Never used the ZFX, too costly imo. Canadian price $32.00

I figured I can put subsequent coats on differant days.

Anyways I agree that Z5 looks better than Z2. The hood with Z2 looks like its has a overcast appearance to it while after Z5 it looks its best.

Thanks! I was sceptical at first, not anymore. I think certain polishes look better on different colors and finishes. It's a trial and error thing. My car is only 3 months old so I had a blank pallete to start with, and I think Zaino was the right choice for me.

Just use what works for you.

IF you guys aren't using ZFX anymore, that means you started using Z1 again?

When I ordered my Z, only bought the 1,2, and 6. Ws a little hesitant on ZFX until I read more about it. I may try it down the road?

I prefer the "non-ZFX" approach. Not only do I think the car looks better when I wait 24 hours between coats, but I also think the car looks better when the polish dries for at least 2 hours before removal.

If I were in a hurry, I would not hesitate to use ZFX, but my preferred approach is to go without.

And my 6 month "full monty" will be done with Z1, NOT ZFX.

2 hours to dry? Is that really better? Do you get a haze when it sits that long, when I wait a half hour in the right conditions, I don't really see a haze.

Thanks.........

Just received my ZFX in the mail today, and I plan I using it this weekend. I've been using Zaino for over 2 years, and after reading all these posts, I'll really be checking out the end results.
