Red spots???

I just purchased a used 07 white accord and I was detailing it and noticed this little spots and can not seem to get them off. Bug and tar remover does not work. Does anybody know what these could be or how to get them off?

metal particles ingrained in the paint causing small red/orange rust spots. Try clay to remove. You may need to use a paint decontamination system (Valuguard) to prevent them from reoccuring

As stated by blackrex, those look like rail dust particles. A good claying should remove them, followed by your choice of paint protection. :)

The Decon system would be a step I'd take if clay doesn't seem to be getting it all.

I myself would probably lean towards the decontamination system, as IME it's more likely to affect a permanent fix. I've had rust-blooms "come back" too many times when I relied on just clay. Even with the decon. system's acid, if the ferrous contamination has really gained a toe-hold it can be tough to get it all.

But hey, clay's a simple fix that's as close as the local autoparts store, so it's worth trying if you're feeling lucky.

I remember something about the Decon system causing problems on unpainted plastic trim. It's been many years since we've had serious discussion on it (probably since grumpy was banished) so I'm hazy on the whole thing.

I just went and got the Mothers clay bar kit and I have to say not only did it do the trick, I think it is the best product I have bought in a long time. Thanks for all the help!

Cool, glad things went so well. Keep an eye out for any reappearance, and if you need to redo some spots try to get it done before they get too bad.
