Red Pontiac SOLSTICE *56K* maybe

I think the problem here is the inital bite of the #83 and even the #80. While they break down nice and fine (by rotary), sometimes you need something that starts off even milder than those products while still having some cutting ability beyond stuff like 1Z MP. In ebpcivicsi's recent experiences the MG fit the bill. I've even had paint that was too soft for PI-III MG.

I'm really  about what's going on with this car and the Cayenne....the extra soft paint I dealt with was one thing- it was a repaint that was almost certainly mixed wrong (RM b/c by a shop that lost my business over how terrible the job came out). But ebpcivicsi is working on (presumably) untouched new cars with factory baked paint :nixweiss

*Exactly* Even the #82 had the same problem on BOTH finishes. Under a halogen or dual zenon lamp, there was *very* noticeable micromarring in the form of tiny small halo scratches. It was definitely the product, not the pad or towel. I tested the towels in untouched areas, no micromarring, tested the pad, no micromarring (PI-III MG was used with the same brand of polishing pad).

Tumbler, belive me, I feel *very* confident in the Meguiars 80's series, they are my standard/baseline/go to polishes. With this paint, no matter how they were applied, at what RPM, by PC or cyclo or rotary, even with a finishing pad, they marred under lighting.

One thing to note about this paint; it was perfect. The only area that had OP was on the front QP where the painted area meets the windshield, it was not wetsanded at all(it's an area about 1" x 1"). There were no runs, no OP, very little rail dust, nothing. Perhaps this car is built "differently" and therefore the paint is a little different. One thing's for sure, it's unlike any GM paint I have ever seen. :nixweiss
