This car let me learned a very big lesson on filler product this is used on cars. This MX5 is about 1 year plus old and when the owner collected the car from the dealer, he came straight down to let me take a look at the car. Under bright sunlight, I can see some very minor swirls on the bonnet and the body of the car. Knowing that it came straight from the dealer, I am not surprised that the dealer used filler product to hide some of the swirls and minor scratches, so I believed there were more defects on the paint work as compare to what I saw.

2 weeks later when the car came for the detailing session, I almost fainted upon seeing the paint condition on the car. There were lots of swirls and hologram all over the car. I expected something worse but not that bad. It really surprised me how effective a filler product can work on a car and it really worked wonders on this car when I saw it 2 weeks ago. In my mind I was wondering what filler product did the dealer used, it really worked very well in hiding all the swirls and hologram.

Immediately I get started off with the work and here’s the process I took to remove the defects,

1) wash with JW Autobody Wash

2) Clay with JW claybar

3) Power Gloss + cutting pad + rotary @ 1500rpm certain areas

4) Power Gloss + cutting pad + DA @ speed 5

5) PO106FF + polishing pad + DA @ speed 4.5

And here are the before and after photos,

After this I applied Prime Carnauba with a MF applicator pad working panel by panel to finish up the whole car. Then followed by Acrylic Jett applied with a plush MF towel and WOW did the car turned out super WET.

After the above 2 shots, the batteries in my camera went totally flat and I was feeling so mad because the sun was almost setting. Went off to get new batteries and by the time I came back for the photo shots, the sun was almost gone. The photos still turned out great but you can definitely see some difference with and without light.

As you can see from the reflection of the last shot, the street lamps had already turned on and it was getting too dark for photo taking anymore.

OMG! :bow :bow :bow

Interesting combo with the carnuba prime and AJ. Where you out of regular prime? Regardless it looks great! :bigups

Hey guys thanks for the comments :)

another qx4 - The rims you saw in the pictures come stock in Singapore.

gmblack3a - I did not run out of the regular Prime, I was just wondering will Prime Carnauba help to make the car looks wetter and after trying out, IMO Prime Carnauba does give a slightly wetter look as compare to the regular Prime.
