Red from the dead!!

I get a call Friday night and it’s the owner telling me he just arrived, I knew a volvo was coming but I wasn’t too sure which model or year or in what kinda condition it was in. All I knew is that it needed an inside and out detail and was told that the paint was not oxidized or fading. I talk with the owner for a little bit who was cleaning out his car at the time of his belongings and after a good inspection the car was pretty beat. The red or should I say pink? Looked as if it were exposed to the mother natures elements night and day for years on end. The interior was dirty but was expected for a car of this age and mileage (nothing like that jeep I did though). I probably went through 12 or so pads polishing this vehicle up because they would get caked up so quickly. The paint was pretty soft so I didnt think SIP and 85rd was going to be used on this one. When the owner arrived to pick it up his jaw completely dropped and thanked me. He really couldnt believe it! hahaha

Great turnaround. What did you use on that trim that goes all around? I really like the TOL Molding and Bumper Renew for it.

thanks everyone for the compliments. THe trim was just too beat and faded for me to bring it back. I was thinking that this would be the perfect candidate for Black Wow to be used on. I used Megs Vinyl and rubber on the exterior trim and it helped some but it was just too beat to bring it back.

Thats one thing about a job on a car that is in that shape .You really hate to see them but the end result is soooo rewarding. Great turn around .Awesome job.

Great job on that car! It is always nice to see an old car restored to some of its former glory! :xyxthumbs

And, just to add:

It is very common for the trim on Volvos to fade over time. One product that is used with good results is called Forever Black.

If you typically work on Volvos, it may be a good investment, otherwise, you can just recommend the product to the owner.

Here is a link:

Forever Black --- The Volvo Parts, Accessories and Performance Specialists Since 1963

And, a tip from the folk at a Volvo forum who have used the product:

Just make sure the trim is clean and dry. You'll want to tape off the painted areas of the car near the trim as it can show up on the paint if you are not careful.

Hope that helps.

Awesome resto. I would've used Black Again on the exterior trim. I just used it on a Grand Cherokee that has gray exterior plastic and it was like night and day. Highly recommend.
