Hello everyone,
I am just in the mood for putting these together and honing my write up skills lately so I figured I’d drop another one on you.
It is my pleasure to present to you, my paintwork rejuvenation and preservation detail on this beautiful 1986 Porsche 911(930) turbo.
What an amazing piece of machinery. The 930 Turbo is an icon among sports car enthusiast around the globe and a legendary figure in the evolution of the Porsche 911 Turbo. With a 0-60 time under 5 seconds and a top speed of over 160 miles per hour the 930 Turbo had longer legs than just about anything on the streets every single year it was produced. To this day its 3.3 liter flat six air cooled power plant propels this vehicle at an astonishing rate when you run its massive turbocharger full spool. The 930 Turbo was in fact so fast it caused Porsche a number of lawsuits when it got into the hands of an inexperienced driver. This particular vehicle has been specially tuned and upgraded with a larger intercooler and exhaust system that really put the icing on the cake.
Keep in mind this vehicle has been exposed to the elements for over 25 years. That’s older than a lot of people who will be reading these very words. The old single stage paint was in dire need of some proper attention and every other exterior surface was just begging to be properly assessed and treated.
I am thankful and blessed I was able to lend the best hand I could and get this one back standing up strong and tall. Here is this Red Porsche 930 Turbo transformation back to life. Enjoy!
Thorough decontamination and prep work begin.
My test section responded well so I pulled her out in the direct sunlight for further examination.
Closer examination shows a drastic improvement, however some deeper imperfections remain.
I got the beast back inside and got busy.
The detail:
The tail end of these cars are quite intricate (especially around the rear window) and require a lot of time and careful work to get right.
Looking like it should now. Paintwork rejuvenation continues...
Here is some evidence of wet sanding left behind by a body shop.
After.
Transformation of the rear quarter panels.
That's more like it. Here is the other side.
One at work.
The final product:
Time for some fun in the sun.
Hope you enjoyed!
