Red 86 BMW 635 CSi (56K go wax a car)

MDetail

The DETAILS count. ;)
So I'll try to give you a short background on the car (as much as I know, before I start to show the goods.) Car is an 86 BMW 635 CSi, Re-painted red (single stage.) I dont know when it was re-painted, but I do know that the owners do not know how to take care of the car. The car has been sitting at the beach for the past 6+ monhts, but who knows how long it has actually been down there. The car BARELY got here running, and then once it got here, it would not start. (Good thing we do maintenace :)) Apparetnly this car was repo'd, and the new owner just wants it looking / running as good as possible to re-sell it. Alright on with the pictures.

Here was the original plan of attack:
GC Wash
Clay
Wash Again
M80
NXT Wax

Here is the new plan:
GC Wash
Clay
GC Wash
Wet Sand (Yes I know a scary thing, but we have a body shop next door, and already did a test spot) You will find out why later.
M80 / M2
NXT Wax

Car came in on Monday looking shiney as ever ;) (Yes, I know this is a slow project)

Interor is Alright, just needs some TLC

Oh the things we find when cleaning cars.

The metal between the trim.

So I decided a good wash was in order for this vehicle

Mirrors need a new look

I had some pictures of the engine bay degreased, but I don't know where they are now.

Decided to try a test spot. Started with M80, but I have the worst time trying to remove it, except for when I'm at the meguiars classes, then its super easy. (I tried a few different products, but the easiest was IP.) I ended switching back to M80 later

Here are some better close ups

As you can see, the color comes out nice, but there are some HORRIBLE SCRATCHES. (Which dont even include the horrible swirls). So I went on and did 4-5 Passes of the IP.

IMG_0887.jpg

But still you can see ALOT of the scratching (can't see it in the picture). It seriously looked like they went off-roading through all the tree branches they could possibly find.

NOTHING I did was taking care of those scratches, so I decided to go all out, WETSAND.

Then buffed out with M80 (following pictures not of the same area posted above.) Roof isn't fully finished, but you get the idea.

And bye bye scraches, Hello SHINE :)

Damn. Do you have a shot of the whole car after all the work? I'm amazed there's any paint left after all the polishing/sanding/etc. it needed. Not to mention who knows the quality of the repaint.

Oh, and if the guy really wants to sell that thing, PLEASE tell him to ditch those floormats :(

Nice work, i like the crack pipe it makes the interior not only look dirty but also sleazy. lol. But very very nice work, good after shots im impressed

Im surprised there is paint left too, but as long as its there, im going to polish it :). Im not finished yet as you can see in the some of the final shots :)

Great work! It's amazing to see what some members can correct with a few detailing supplies and a bit of time.

Nice turn around, .BTW i think he may have left some od his Meds behind look to the left of the emergency break..

How long did it take?

How much $$$, only if you dont mind saying?

The moment you have all been waiting for. I have been done with the car for a while now, but just haven't had time to re-size, and make the write up for this car until now.

Here is where we left off last, a test spot after some wetsanding.
