My friend got a red 89 accord hatch and i told her i would detail it for her. Looks like it hasnt been waxed in its entire life. Nothin looks faded( like through the clear if you know what i mean) but im sure its got some oxidation. Its got a lot of swirls and theres a spot on the rear QP that got a spot on it where it looks like someone used steel wool on it! I really wanna get this paint lookin good again for her( I have a huge crush on her!). I have ton of detail stuff, no pc unfortuantly. I have

PPCL

PPG

Pinnacle signature series

pinnacle Liquid souveran

Pinnacle clay bars

Pinnacle cycle glaz

As you can see im a huge fan of pinnacle. Ive heard good things about DACP to get swirls out, but can i use that by hand? Can someone write out a step by step guide for me of what i should use? Thanks!

Have you read the articles nested in the "Learn" icon at the top of the page? Lots of great tips there about procedures; after that, you get into details about products. But first ya just gotta understand the principles and processes. :up

If I were you, I'd do some searches on "hand dacp" and start sifting. From the sounds of it, you'll probably need something with a bit more strength like DACP. Anything milder (like a swirl remover) is pretty hopeless I've found.

I'd also maybe get something even stronger than DACP on hand incase it's not quite enough. You have an awful lot of waxes, but they're not going to help you one bit for this job, and the PPCL is far to gentle to do much to swirls.

As said, check out the Learn! link or the Autopia eBook, as they'll get more into the process of swirl removal and other things you might want to look out for. Good luck!

I agree. I was thinking of doing the same thing for a girl I had a huge crush on if she ever got a car, but a few months later after that thought, and a year or two after I started liking her, I realized that she didn't even really like me...:nixweiss Now, after the long process of realizing that, she even looks different to me.

It is a thoughtful thing to do, but I don't know if I'd spend my time by hand on someone I don't even know if they like me. Wait...:scared...That just sounded strange. You get my drift, and if you think it would be worth it, then go for it, but if her car is in such bad shape right now, I'm not sure how much she would care. Either way, good luck getting her!

LOL thanks. The forest from the trees you know.... :xyxthumbs

It's going to be a pretty intense job by hand, but it helps that it's such a small car. Still, bring the Gatorade....

Remember that scene from Robin Hood Prince of Thieves where they're both sitting on the catapult and he asks "Is she worth it?". :D
