article dood....whats with these surgical towels their talking about...anybody heard of these....is that another fancy name for MF's.....i was thinking this because they mentioned they were blu.....most of the other stuff i have read here....vinegar etc....but i dont remeber ammonia being mentioned....im gonna do a quik search on it...thx for the read Racin:up....

ps...nothing with a search came up for ammonia...and towels....but i saw some nice little posts from yosteve and jason....something about steve getting carded at a bar...and jason being a neatfreak about his shoes...and not having a car yet but being into detailing.....man...all these old posts come back to haunt you....from now on i post 1 word responses...:D

I screen most anything I post. I wanted the shoes to remain in Autopian's heads along with my name.

I love my shoes, just like the cars I detail. I want them to be in tip top shape all the time.

As for these surgical towels, they are mostly used for cleaning glass on autos. They can be bought in bulk at hosiptal supply stores or www.autoint.com .

I have not used them yet, but intend to try them out as soon as I get around to it.

not you got me inetersted in these towels...like i dont have a bazillion already..............i only 1/2 read that post u guys were talking about....now you got me itno that too....:D checked out the towels...$55 for 10 lbs worth....too steep for me.....ill wait til you get'um.........thx for the info

I know those towels! For years I've used nothing else in the kitchen and find I've been stealing them to wipe glass, and most recently, to dry the car. When just very slightly damp they do wonders for wiping the last traces of moisture off a car and will NOT leave lint like terry cloth!

Glad to see the link for buying more, I used to buy them at a local lumber/hardware store but they don't carry them now. When I was hospitalized for thyroid sugery two years ago, they had an ice pack on my neck wrapped in one of those towels and I got to take it home--needless to say I was pretty thrilled about this little bonus!!

Well you know, since I had been looking for those towels a few years with no luck, that was like the pot of gold at the end of the proverbial rainbow!

I was looking through the price list for automotive international products and saw 10lbs of the surgical towels for $36 and change for the detailer. I don't know where the $55 comes from?? Maybe a price change?

Subymamma, ever try visiting a medical supply store? Or hooking up with a hospital staffer (to hook you up with a few packs of these towels?) Just a suggestion. Welcome to Autopia.

WELCOME BACK Ron! Missed you these past few months!!!

The trip was good, did lots of training of our new distributors in the Philippines, Maylasia and Thailand, some refresher work with the people in Singapore.

The detailers and dealerships in those areas are way behind the times and it was a pleasure the way they showed great enthusisum and acceptance of correct and proper procedures.

There is a shortage of good equipement for detailing there, though.

Hard to find a variable speed rotary buffer, no dual actions in most areas that are electric.

They were using hard towels, no terry cloth, micro fibers are a unheard of, synthetic chamios were beyond their comprehension.

Going to take some time to get all the things we take for granted in to the pipeline, as the costs for these add quite abit of expense to their operations.

thats weird...Surgical towels for glass cleaning (10 lbs.)

Surgical towels for glass cleaning (10 lbs.)

Part # VG-ST

Price: $54.08 Each

i cut/pasted it from the site....that was autoint.com i took it from....

where did u see the ones for $36......

besides...i worked in the OR for almost 5 yrs....and never saw a towel there that i would think would be good for detailing.....maybe i just wasnt in the detailing frame of mind back then....:) i dont remember them being plush at all...probably very good for non-lint jobs....let me know...thx

ps...Ron....i can imagine what their reaction was to the products you must have shown them.....i can picture you sitting there like Marlon Brando at the ned of Apocalypse now...being worshipped for your car care skills....much like here on Autopia...:D :p

it sure felt like months.... Good to be in the good ole USA where products seem way ahead of other countries.

Floni: The surgical glass towels are NOT supposed to be plush. They are glass towels and serve the purpose of cleaning the glass without leaving any lint.

I saw it on the price list I got from AutoInt. $36.76 or something around there.

Floni: These are not plush. Maybe you saw instruments wrapped in them from the autoclave? They're always blue, some in different shades, and soooo nice....

Just had the front fascia/bumper cover repainted on my Ford Lightning and had my paint guy spray an overcoat of Dominion Seal 2K Chip Guard over it.

I think it came out really great; the stuff is not the thick-as-snot, lumpy, yellow tinted stuff like you usually find. Looks just like a clear coat. I bought the stuff online for about $60 and it makes a quart of material. Painter applied 4 coats and I still have enough left to do the ground effects pieces this fall.
