Recommendations for wheel protection dressing in New England please

I use Meguiars xpress spray wax on my summer tires. With winter approaching though my hose/pressure washer washes are going away and the weekly routine. I use winter rims and tires which will be going on soon. I`m looking for a good coating/wax type dressing to apply to the winter rims to help protect them during the winter months. I would prefer easy to apply as I am new to this.

Any wax will help and obviously coatings are the most durable.
I`ve tried many of the waxes from my shelves on wheels and found FK1000 to be the hands-down winner in durability. I hate cleaning wheels regularly, especially considering the harsh nature of dedicated wheel cleaners. 3 to 4 apps a year of FK1000 and all you`ll need is your regular car wash solutions to keep `em clean.

I`d prep for the FK1000P with some kind of All-In-One product first so as to not wax over dirt/brake dust.

And I`d use this regimen on those summer wheels too.
 
Here in CT, McKee`s wheel coating has given me excellent results the last two years. With a once a year application, cleaning is a breeze.

Initial prep will be easy, brand new wheels just need to rinse the dust off.

Ah, great! I do still think an AIO would be the way to prep `em, oughta go quick and easy indeed.

Get the FK1000P and try to get a few coats on before Winter really gets going. (And I *always* want to hear feedback about that product, whether pro or con, which I`d be using on the rest of the vehicle too.)

I appreciate hearing about the durability you`ve experienced with that coating. Doesn`t sound right for me, and being able to check it off the list is helpful.

With Optimum`s coatings no longer getting rave reviews, I`ve just been FKing mine, not gonna bother with any coating that doesn`t offer oh-wow durability. Seems like a lot of coatings need redone as often as some conventional LSPs, which are so much quicker/easier for me.
 
I use spray on ceramic sealants on my wheels in MA. It helps combat the road salt much better than a wax or sealant will. I honestly apply it every other wash or every wash because the salt is nasty here and eats through everything pretty quick. Coatings are obviously the best, but the salt will quickly ruin the hyrdrophobics so you`ll need to top-off frequently with a ceramic spray sealant anyway

Yikes, they must use some nasty stuff in your area! I`ve never had roadsalt/etc. diminish any characteristics of my coatings, and even the FK1000P holds up quite well throughout winter.

It doesn`t fully diminish the coating, but the salt clogs it so all of the hydrophobic properties are gone. Same type of thing of how iron particles can clog a paint coating. Once you dissolve the salt and rinse it off they start to come back. I just top it with a spray ceramic sealant to help protect the coating
 
If their not matte in color. Tacos moonlight or gyeon can coat should be fairly easy to put on. I’m going to do a full on coating this spring. Looks easy enough to apply. Gtechnic wheel armor

Huh, sure glad things aren`t like that in my area! And here I thought "NE Ohio" meant "pretty bad winters", guess things can always be worse and I gotta remember to count my lucky stars now and then :D

This year in Boston has been especially bad. We`ve gotten snow every week since I came back to school in January. Its nuts. Getting 8-12 inches as we speak...

C5 is a nice wheel coating. Seems to be more sheeting than beading. Decent longevity and easy to work with. I like it better topped with Exo.
 
Like Coatings=crack`s suggestion.

A quality ceramic coating, especially as far as rims and barrels is concerned, is a set it and forget it plan.

Such a long lifespan in a hard to maintain area like barrels is essential.

Guz`s idea is good also but I think the CQUK 3.0 has a much longer lifespan.
 
What about Gyeon Rim or Kamikaze Stance?

I might coat some wheels before changing over this spring and my GlossCoat went bad..need something that`ll last at least a few years (as the Optimum always did) and that`s Accumulator-proof with regard to application (which is a tougher criterion at present as I`m about to have more eye surgery).

Gyeon Rim was ok in terms of overall performance. Started to fizzle out close to 1 year on a daily driven car. Application is pretty straight forward. Just as easy as gloss Coat.

If Gloss Coat worked for you then get another tube.

Longevity will come down to a few factors like anything else.

Rims take the most beating,wouldn’t expect more than 1-2 years on barrels and 1yr on face.
