Recommend good TIRE cleaner to replace EO A2Z?

Hi Folks,

My long time go-to TIRE cleaner was Eagle One's A2Z tire & wheel cleaner (in the orange bottle). My stock is almost completely gone and I'll be looking for something to replace it. There are plenty of options for wheel cleaning, so I'm not concerned with that. But tire cleaners don't seem to get discussed as much. (I'd just buy more EO except I have no idea if the newer version in the blue/silver bottle is the same stuff, and more importantly I haven't even seen it on shelves lately in my local area.)

Looking at my product shelf I have the following, which might be potential candidates depending on your feedback.

Poorboy's APC

Opt Power Clean

P21S Total Auto Wash

Simple Green

Would you recommend I try any of those (for tire cleaning duty) and if so in a diluted form, or straight up? Or is there some other product I should look into trying?

Thanks!

Top of the Line makes/sells an exceptionally effective tire cleaner. Really reasonablely priced for a gallon and it can be diluted to whatever ratio you want. I've used it to clean the brown bloom off some old Michelins and it removed the bloom that normal OTC products like A2Z couldn't touch. It works so well, I only use it a couple of times a year for a good base cleaning. A2Z then works well for weekly cleaning.

Griot's also makes two rubber cleaners, one stronger than the other and the stronger of the two is favoured by Accumulator.

Being Canadian and from Edmonton, I'm thinking you probably do your mail ordering from either Auto Obsessed or Eshine?

Correct. AO has a shop in town now too, so I can buy locally from them.

I just got a 6-pack of the blue bottle EO A2Z and it's an awesome tire cleaner. Got it based on many reviews here and other forums. Cost was about 24$ shipped with amazon prime, so that's just $4/bottle.

Just realized you're in Canada, maybe can't get Amazon prime.

None of the above. A2Z is very good, the above are not that capable. I would suggest Mothers Foaming Wheel & Tire Cleaner. It's even better than A2Z. Easily available and very well priced.

Amazing Roll-Off,

Best stuff used to date, & its very cost effective.

the brown instantly starts melting off the tires & pools on the ground.

i just ordered Tuf Shine...as well as Tuf Shine Clearcoat.

Supposed Tuf Shine is quite the cats paw...

I've yet to use it though

I’ve been using Meguiars Hot Rims All Wheel & Tire Clean and it has always done wonders to my car’s wheels. It’s never let me down before ;)

^^ I finally got a chance to try some of this. I had to order it online from the US, because I've never seen it OTC locally here. It worked fantastically.

I also tried Amazing Rolloff this summer and it too seemed good, but I think I was more impressed with the Mother's.

I'm going to pick up some Aytoglym Custom Wheel Cleaner to try next, as it's on sale right now at our local Canadian Tire stores.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

InZane if you have a Dollar Tree store close to you go get a bottle of LA Awesome APC. Thats all I use as a tire cleaner. Spray it on the tire .. Let sit 5 min then mist with water and use a stiff brush. The brown just runs off the tires and if you have white walls or white letters the come up really white. I have been using this for years now but people wont event try it because its not boutique or $10 a bottle.

I've been very pleased with the new Mothers Back to Black Tire Renew dedicated tire cleaner---spray on the tire, allow to dwell for a few seconds and just wipe off with an old cloth. It's easy to keep it off the wheels, requires no water to wash it away and does a great job of bringing the tire back to a new untreated look.

I've tried many things on tires. Honestly, Tuff Shine Tire Cleaner is the best stuff I've tried. I use it with a foaming sprayer and diluted 50% with DI water. Diluting it seems to make no difference. You still need to scrub, but it's designed to get the tires 100% clean, which is necessary for the coating to work.

The next best thing I've tried is probably LA Awesome neat. However, I'm always worried about that messing up the wheel paint - so I don't use it that much.

Most APCs just don't work that well on tire dressing removal. Maybe they work on dirt, but I'm primarily trying to get out all the old dressing and the dirt.
