There are a lot of good soaps to suit your needs: scent, price, cleaning, added shine.

Blackfire Soap
DDJ Born to Be Mild
Auto Finesse Lather
Poorboys

I've read some good reviews about lather so I decided to try it. Didn't like it at all. Lubricious was sub par.

I really like Megs HyperWash as a standard wash for almost all things. But Wolfs White Satin has really surprised me and is one of the slickest soaps I have ever used.

Broke out a new gallon of CG MAXI SUDS 2 last weekend. Great soap. Good cleaning and dwell time. Mixes up about the same as hyperwash.

Let's not forget about dilution ratio's. Many washes that "seem" expensive are actually cheaper than OTC choices.

1oz per bucket is on the instructions. I use about 2 ounces to about 3 to 4 gallons water and that is overkill but at that strength it really cleans especially the bugs off the front better. So dilution ratio is pretty much on par with most other soaps. So at about $6 per 64 ounces/2oz per wash/32 uses goes a lot further than a 16 oz bottle (BlackFire, Pinnacle, and Migliore are a few that come to mind) that have similar dilution ratios. So yes on this subject OTC beats out your high end mail order stuff any day of the detailing week. JMO.

Love me some Chemical Guys soaps. I like to use Citrus Wash at 1oz/gal to strip LSP, and for maintenance washes Mr. Pink in a foam cannon and Glossworkz in the bucket. Glossworkz smells so good. I just wanna bathe in it.

Wax and shampoo threads are like GEICO commercials at this point.

It may be a shorter list of washes people do not like. They are like many things - lot of subjectiveness involved so all about personal preference. Some would wash just with water if they could get away with it..and some do!

Just tried Duragloss 902...very nice cleaning, smelling, and sudsy soap! Could this be used for a maintenance wash product for coated cars (Cquartz UK)?

I grew up on zip wax car wash. Today I would never use it as I don't want the wax getting on my coatings. I prefer LSP safe shampoo. I have used a few and they are all good:

1. Poorboys super slick and shine. -Still would purchase, great price and performance

2. Ultima Paint Guard Plus-purchased this when I was using the UPGP and it is concentrated so it lasted longer than the use of UPGP.

3. Lusso Oro wash-The most mild wash I have found to date. I use it on my cars when they are not too dirty and it seems to extend the coatings and it smells great.

I try to stay on a budget and can't see spending a lot of money. I have used Turtle Wax Zip Wax car wash. It has great cleaning ability, has a wax to help with the shine, has good suds and lubricity for washing. Call me cheap but I use it and it works for me and can't see spending $15, or a lot more on some brands, on a pint of shampoo for the car. JMO.

Chemical Guys Citrus Wash for stripping wax\sealants

Chemical Guys HoneyDew Snow Foam for wax safe - love the smell and the ridiculous amount of suds...

I already posted some of the stuff I have used in the past and I can tell you that other than smell, I do not think I have used one that ever hurt the LSP or did not remove dirt. Some foam more than others in the bucket and some require more concentrate to get that super slick feeling but its hard to make a mistake in any shampoo you buy in this store or from a reputable company.

I know my mix is heavy and I di this because I hope it cuts down on marring. When it rains, you should see the foam that rises out of my pavers.

Some of my Favs are:

Poor Boys SSS: slick, slick, slick. And great suds.

Lusso Oro: see above, even more so.

CGs Honeydew: Best in foam cannon, period.

P21S Soap: very gentle with wax. For when the car is only a little dirty.

Vic's Super Soap: See above.

Sonax Gloss Enhancing Shampoo: like a real shampoo

1Z Exclusive Gloss: good all around

CGs Citrus Red: aggressive cleaner for filthy cars

Dodo Juice B2B Mild: Good all around.
