ok, so im picking up a 96 corvette next monday and iv bought all me detailing supplies except my polish, wax, and pads. now from what i hear, corvettes have very tough clear coats. ill be using a porter cable 7240 or whatever the number is. so recomend me some polishes, waxes, and pads to use. maybe for like a 2 stage polish, then a wax. should i apply wax by machine or hand? also, is there anything i should put on top of the wax or is it done? thank youuuu!

Im not sure what everyone is using as far as pads these days, but it would depend on the paints condition to recommend polish(s).

In general you should have handy 2 or 3 white polishing pads, 2 orange pads, and maybe a black pad for applying wax, glaze, sealants, although i never use mine. If the paint is trashed, or it is very hard, you might do well to get 3-5 orange and white 4" pads with the appropriate backing plate.

As far as the wax...hm, depends on what you want it to do. Do you want it to hide blemishes, look super good but not last that long, or do you want it to last 3-6 months with only a spritz to maintain it?

the paints not in too bad shape, so i shouldnt have to go to hard at it. as for the wax, id say make it look real good cause i wash my cars often so i wouldnt mind having to wax often

Do you want wax or a paint sealant? For a paint sealant I like Ultima Paint Guard Plus.

Polishes I would look at Meguiars M105 and M205

whats the difference between a wax and a sealant? i thought they were the same. im looking to protect the paint as it will be a daily driver, but look good too

UPGP then.

I'll let other drive into the differences.
