Recent details - Jag X Type & Crossfire

That was £200 gross gents - for £200 a day net I'd be a VERY happy bunny, esp on a 5.5 day week!!!

They were also approx figures, worked out one evening with a good mate and several bottles of expensive French plonk.....I was trying to calculate what I'd need to turn over to basically equal what I bring home currently, taking into account NI, tax etc etc - TBH I've got no real idea what I'd have to turnover to get to where I want to be.

Nice work there Andy!

I might just get to try that Carlack68 one day... :p Mind you, I've now got 2 litres of Grojet2000 to get through!

Are you working out of your car? Where do you get the water and electric from?

hehe - loving the Carlack too. Since finding this place and getting bitten by the detailing bug, I can honestly say I've not found another product which is as versatile or gives such good results, particularly as you say with a 2nd coat. Luvin it! Wondering whether AIO will be any different?

Applied by hand - I always apply sealant/wax this way - nothing beats a hand finish IMO plus I've not found any noticeable visual benefit to PC application (although I'd concede that PC will probably give a thinner more even layer but I don't think there's much in it TBH)

I did a Laguna for a neighbour on sunday after she asked me to do her car while I was out working on my Dads on the Saturday. I stupildly agreed without looking at the car before hand. Excluding the bonnet which had been painted for some reason without any clear coat unlike the rest of the car and was matt green, I gave the whole car a coat of super resin, the car hadnt been washed full stop so was not really swirled, the Resin made little difference, nor did the first coat of carlack, then WOW, the second coat gave a deep gloss and a very slick surface. Its was almost magic! What i thought would be a couple off hours turned into about 6, as I must have done about 10-14 coats of AG Paint renovater, Resin and Carlack on the bonnet. Still I thanking you Mr C for the Carlack as that saved the day.....needed a PC was Knackerd!

As for your charges Mr C, I was payed 20 quid and some Ice cold Carlsbergs!

As for AIO, having just purchased some Souveran and Wolfgang, as the Carlack's working so well too and hardly dented in volume, that will AIO have to wait till May I think. Intrested to see how it does compare tho, have you ordered?

Hopefully the PC will be ordered soon too, so I may need some advice.

Thanks for the info Andy.

Wheres the best place to get Carlack 68 from?

and Richt if you have sold the 205 and 306 what are you driving now? and the pics of your 306 all the work was done by hand?

Andy,

Try and get hold of some Virosol (see UK Retailers thread) to use on the wheels, a much kinder product than Wonder Wheels and better results too!

Great work BTW,

Alex

Virosol arrived Tuesday - will be trying it out over weekend.

Craig - 1000 apologies mate; I flat out forgot about your Carlack. Will sort ASAP

Craig - I work from the car )its reflected in the side shot of the Crossfire). GF's office has an area under cover and lit, complete with water and a maintenance shed 20 yards away with power plus she keeps me supplied with tea and Jaffa Cakes all day...

matt_r - I got my Carlack from www.svsp.co.uk (as I believe Rich did) - he was a little puzzled when I explained it was for car use (they're a glider manufacturer) but I suspect he's been a little busy since then with mad autopians ordering!

Rich - it IS rather good, isn't it?! That 2nd coat does magic to paint. As for charges, I figure I'm still under what a "pro" would charge and for a day's work I figured £100 odd was worth my while. I try to avoid older cars in bad condition as the owners I've found either don't care or don't want to pay much money and then take it straight through a car wash a week later.

I always have a look at the car before quoting or get GF to look (her eye's better than mine for swirls and damage and she's yet to make a bad call) and if serious work is needed the price goes up. If the damage is bad I tend to quote a price but not charge if I can't remedy - GF's boss's ML was clipped on a low wall and it broke the paint. I managed to PC most of the surrounding damage away, leaving a small white mark. I'd agreed a price of £50 (based on his cheapest bodyshop quote of £400+) but zero if I failed to remove the damage - he still paid me £20 for trying which wasn't too bad at all....

Not ordered AIO - yet. I'm in two minds TBH as I'd made a resolution not to spend any more and concentrate on getting my 205 spot on but I just got my 04 bonus today of £3,000......

Rich, if you go the PC route, there's plenty who'll be happy to help I'm sure! If you want to try before you buy, you're about a 2 hour drive from me....

Spend spend then!!!!!

I may have to take you up o the try before you buy offer though Andy.

My Souveran and wolfgang arrived from Ron @ Motorgeek today, plus a free Glass MF, great service. Holding off on the AIO until I have seen/heard the results when compared directly to the Carlack which I have loads left.

When I went to get my Carlack from SVSP I told him you sent me, and was intrested in what I would be using it on.

Andy, great work on both of the cars. The difference in the Crossfire was amazing. I'll have to show my wife the photos, she loves the Crossfire! Carlack sounds like an great product. I wonder if it can be had over here? There's some serious talent in the UK, always cool to see some vehicles that we don't have on this side of the Atlantic.

I'd think with the number of cars you have to do you could do this full time. I do think you need to raise your prices as you do primo work. :xyxthumbs

Probably getting a 182 like yourself.

All the work on cars I have ever done is by hand, PC coming soon though.

Thanks again for that Andy ill give it a try and tell them you sent me. They should be giving you discounts next you go back.;)

Richt the pics of your 306 are great, cant believe all the work is by hand. Those tires have an amazing shine. I've only just got a PC so still very new to it but you will love it if you get one.

Do you know what colour 182 your gonna go for? Thats the problem im having, but i have fallen in love with 182_blue's racing blue 182, it looks an amazing colour.

Cheers guys

matt

Cheers for the comments, Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber on the tyres.

As for the 182 it has to be black, was going for the Arctic Blue but it was to like the old 205.
