Rasky's Auto Detailing: Black Cadillac DTS

2007 Cadillac DTS 48,XXX miles...my sisters car :D

She bought the car used so the neglect in the paint is not all from her. She only wanted the interior cleaned but since I had the car all weekend I thought I'd be a nice guy and 2-step the exterior...baaaad idea!

This car has had several panels repainted, and they did not appear to all be done to the same time, based on paint texture. She also has an unlimited wash package at a locus full service wash, which she uses at least once a week. She has never waxed the car before but after washing it there was evidence of some sort of protection....whatever it was it made buffing a PITA (some rainX crap she said the offer with the upgraded wash)! The car was also covered in fine black over spray, and the roof had some larger gray specs too.

Please keep in mind I was only getting paid to do the interior on this one so some of the extra things I do on a full detail may have been skipped ;)

One of the repainted panels had a texture that did not match the rest of the car and looked pretty bad, I gave it a quick wet sand to better match the factory finish. Megs 1500 followed by 3000.

I had a lot of issues buffing on this one for a few reasons...The repainted panels acted differently and paint was micro marring of some of them, My M105 seemed to have gone bad and had become very runny. I had lots of issues with it gumming up which could be a result of the M105, or whatever paint protection crap that was still on the paint from the local car wash.

(before anyone asks, I'm on my 3rd gallon of M105 and I know what the consistency is supposed to be like. This was the DA version and had about a half gallon left. It was fine two weeks ago)

Thanks for looking,
Rasky

Hey Rasky... you really brought out the shine on that black Caddy!!! Nice work. I'm a real M105 fan. It completely changed the role of the PC!

I hope where your sis lives, there are no pot-holes! Those rims just wouldn't look very good with a huge dent in them!!!:scared: But they sure look good!:D

LOL! I'm in MN!!! "Pot Hole" is a season here!

Her b/f bought her the wheels! While she likes the style of them, she hates the size and wishes they we 20's instead....he also wishes he had gotten 20's now too because he's already replaced 3 of them and 2 are bent now!

They are getting new ones next summer and the stock wheels are going back on soon. ;)

Unbelieveable turn around !

Rasky, you did an awesome job on that car ! Bet your sister was so happy !
It sure turned out way better than when you started.
Are those wheels 22's ?? I had 22's on a Harley Davidson truck once, it came stock with them, but they had way more tire on there so it didnt hurt the wheels or the ride. I would definitely see about changing those out to save buying or restraightening wheels all the time.. That has to be the only Caddy out there with wheels like that so its great to be original too isnt it ?

Thanks for sharing the great pictures -the claybar was wacked after just one half the hood !!! You know you are going to be in trouble if it starts out like that, eh ?? :)

Awesome job !

Thanks Dan!

Yep, thems double deuces! :D

She has some kind of wheel insurance on them now so that if she bends another one they fix it for free. Still a big PITA and she hates them. She will likely get a similar design but in a 20" size next spring. I drove the car for a few days and it really does wreck the ride! :o

I do kind of like the look of them though...but they are just too big.

Love those Harley trucks BTW! :)

Nice Job on the Caddy.
I'd like to see it go down the road with those wheels.

I like the sanding part, so 1500 grit is factory look?
