Rasky's AD: Black '68 Corvette Conv w/427

Rasky's Auto Detailing
Since I'm new to this forum I thought I'd share some of my latest work,

1968 Corvette convertible with a 427, paint correction only.

This car was a respray about 3 years ago. It had been wet sanded and compounded, but never finished off properly. There was also a lot of deep RIDS and swirls, which appeared to be from a old or dirty buffing pad. In a few areas the paint had shrunk down and needed to be wet sanded as well. The hatch for the top had been repainted and the owner wet sanded that before I arrived.

The owner had also been doing some things that marred and scratched the finish over the years. Upon completion he was given the tools/products needed to maintain the finish and I explained how to use them.

Process:

Clay - Meguiars mild clay and Last Touch
Step 1 - M105 via rotary and Meguiars Solo heavy cutting pad
Step 2 - M105 via rotary and meguiars W7006 pad
Step 3 - M205 via rotary and LC white polishing pad
Step 4 - M205 via rotary and 3M UK finishing pad
LSP - Dodo Juice Supernatural

It was snowing the day I got there so no outdoor before pics...

After....sorry, it was late when I finished and sun was almost gone. I will go back another day and take full sun shots.

The owner had some cool stuff in his garage that made for nice reflection shots...

The side pipes kicked up some dust when he pulled it back in...you can see it a little in these pics :(

Reflection of the '66 with a 427 and matching numbers...which I will be doing in the spring. ;)

You had me at the first pic. That is one of my favorite all time cars. I have a friend that collects them and I will definitely be showing him this post.:bigups

Beautiful work.:bow

Did you get to drive it?:dnaughty

Now that's a nice detail!!!

Nothin' better than a black Shark roadster.... Man I love that car!!!!!!!!!;););)

Nice job, I was getting a little nervous though. I was getting a long way down the page waiting for the obligatory engine picture. All muscle/pony/HP cars need to have this shot, you didn't disappoint.

Hey there rasky was nice to meet you at Df .Should of spent more time picking your brain on the 105/205 combo maybe next time.Just wondering what color pad was the Uk one that you finished with?? Thanks

Beautiful job :bigups

That thing looks like it could get a speeding ticket while parked

Thanks again!

Thanks!

I did not get to drive it given the road conditions...it was also the reason I was workng at his garage and not my own shop. :(

He did however offer to let me take it to a show this summer (Advertisement). I gave him a pretty good price since I know he has a lot of friends with nice cars too. :bigups

Hahaha! I always save the best for last! ;)

You would be happy to know she cranks out a little over 530hp! It's not the L88, but it's still very bad a$$! He does have an L88 sitting in a crate though. :dnaughty

It was awesome meeting you too Adam! Feel free to PM me any time if you want to talk about them. I could even shoot you my cell# if you like. I used the blue 3M UK pads. Normally I would have just used a W9207 megs pad but I liked the smaller pad size on this car. I did try a blue CCS LC pad too but the 3M seemd to be finishing better.

P.S. My roommate made some chocolate chip cookies tonight and they didn't even come close to being as good as your wifes! :D

WOW what an awesome car!!! Great correction work too.

Thanks Dave! ;)

Nice work Rasky! Thanks for sharing. :bigups
