Wonder if all those PostIts ended up as litter, blowing around the parking lot, as some already have. The owner might not realize they`re a potential issue until running the windows down or using the wipers...hope there`s no residue/issue at all, maybe it`ll be OK.

Actually, I *do* get the cutesy aspect/intent of it, just hope it`s something to chuckle about rather than rant (that residue issue). I know plenty of folks who wouldn`t be upset, so...eh, whatever.

I would be livid.

You and me both...but then I suspect that people know better than to try that kind of thing on, uhm...some of us.

Imagine if they are those new extreme hold Post its they are advertising on TV now. They wouldn`t come off easily!

Bill D- Unless that car has a good LSP I bet they`re not the tenacious ones..too many already blown off.

We haven`t tried those yet, doubt we will so I hope they keep making the regular ones (Accumulatorette goes through a gazillion of the tiny ones with her copy-editing).

This was in the parking lot at work today. I would be livid.

Can you tell us what that was about? Or don`t you know?

Oh boy...those copy editors, I have some of those in my family...always correcting your sentence structure or wanting to add a footnote.

No idea. I thought maybe the red/pink on the windshield was supposed to be a heart? I say work as it was on base. Not MY specific work/area...

And I am certain there are no worries of that happening to my car.

The cold, wet weather is really getting old. I`ve got yard work to do, cars that need to be washed/detailed, and I`m REALLY getting tired of driving on my winter tires!

Accumulatorette is quite the authority on English by any standards ... and I simply *LOVE* it! Her perfect diction was one of the first things to get my attention all those years ago. Note she`s *NOT* a, uhm...pedantic [jerk] about it, but then I don`t give her reason to be and I`m every bit as strident a grammarian/etc.

I just got called a crook because I require a deposit to schedule jobs now.

Too many no call no shows last year.

I stand my ground on this.

When people schedule my weekend and don`t show I am not only losing money from that job. I am losing money from not working OT at my day job and the subsequent loss that OT would have brought to my yearly bonus and 401k.

I can actually make more working a half day of OT than I can doing a basic interior/exterior anyways.

I even bent this deposit rule earlier in the year and got burned twice.

Why does everyone want to wash my car? I just had some work done on my bumper at a local body shop and they washed my clean car after fixing the bumper. Left all kinds of water spots on the glass and paint. I was going to do a full correction after the bumper was repaired so it’s not a huge deal. I’ve got to get some signs made “Do Not Wash My Car!”

I hear ya. When I was buying my car, as soon as we agreed on numbers I told the manager- after already telling the sales person-not to let anyone touch it. Take the sticker off and that’s it. Drove it home with all the interior plastic still on it. Went back to get a cargo hook installed and told the guy not to wash it. He was like “you sure you don’t want us to wash it?” Positive!

Funny how to To most people, they’re doing them a favor but to all of us here they’re screwin* things up.

Sorry this had to happen.. :(

Having worked in a couple of auto body and paint shops, the reason they want to wash it is because it got lots of fingerprints, overspray, etc., from the shop on it ; dirt from being outside, etc., and they don`t want it to look bad when you see it next..

Most shops cram a lot of cars into a building in all different states of getting ready to be painted, and there is always a lot of stuff that lands on every car in there.. The paint booth/s are only reserved for complete paint jobs where you really want to not get a lot of crap in the wet paint..

Doors, trunk lids, hoods, are left open and they also get a lot of paint dust in them, so we would have to take an air nozzle and blow the entire interior out - before - we wiped it down, and then washed the car..

The only thing they don`t know is that you are an Expert compared to them when it comes to cleaning your car, and you are going to tell they did not do well in that respect..

Now that being said, if I had been the one to do the paintwork and then wash it, it would have been perfect because that is what I always do.. :)

Most shops are not going to be that way because there are decades of less than good habits that are hard to break.. And they are on the clock and only have so much money to spend on that bumper work and that is it..

Put my house on the market yesterday. 3 full price offers in 24hours. :D Plus, 5 more showings today. ;)

On the downside. The new house doesn`t have a garage. :o

On the plus side. It`s family owned and free rent! Until we find our new house. Time to save some money. For a bigger down payment on our new house.

People and places quit washing without permission/touching paint/etc. when they realize it`s not in their best interest. Trouble is that impressing that upon `em is an unpleasant hassle and you gotta pick your battles or else life (well, other people..) will drive you nuts.

Heh heh, your post had me swinging from "wow, lots of great offfers, that`s swell!" to "?!?No Garage?!?" to "Oh, OK...that`ll just be temporary".

How long do you expect to be in the garageless/rent-less family place? I`m a big believer in taking your time to get Big Decisions like that just right.

LOL. My Aunt and Uncle own the house. My market is hot hot hot for selling. Not so much for buying.

I told my Aunt and Uncle maybe a year to find the house we truly want. They said no problem. I just don`t want to take advantage of them. So I would like to find something within the year. My wife wants to stay and save as much as possible. Plus finish paying off some debt. My Aunt who is like my second mother. Said "stay as long as you need. All you need to do is pay the electricity". The house is own well water and septic. We wouldn`t have sold if it wasn`t for their generous offer. It is nice not having to rush to find the next house. Most likely the last house we buy.

Tc99m- I hope the next one *is* your Forever House, so I hope you *do* take your time as that`s kinda tricky to get right (says the guy who, uhm...learned to watch what he wishes for). And I kinda side with your wife and Aunt when I consider the Debt issue (which I`m kinda nutty about). Great that your Aunt and Uncle are so nice, you folks are (all four of you) fortunate IMO.

I felt like a little kid when a client tossed me the keys to his 1940 Ford Coupe and told me to follow him home. This car likes the throttle open :)

So cool. I love how mechanical and dangerous it all felt.
