Hey i LOVE my truck. And theoretically this will be effective.

I see hail claims on a daily basis for a living. I ended up covering the side too but it wouldnt stay with the wind

Call it overkill but isn't that kind of the premise we operate under in general with regards to car care?

Never said it was a bad idea, just that it was a first. My truck would take way too much cardboard for that if they called for hail.

I figure cardboard has a stronger rigidity than the cloth towels so why not try it..now will it all hold..who knows the paint doesnt exactly like things to adhere to it (tape)

Found a good use for my old PBMG boxes...
(Hail is coming they say)

your neighbors must think you lost your mind ...

Overall i think my neighbors like me more ever since i stopped taking my 2am SRT cruises and waking them all up firing the car up (headers, dual exhaust and no cats on a 6.1)

haven't looked at the truck in the sun (I am at work at 7am Saturdays) but I am pretty sure no hail came through afterall

now I have this idea of getting a car cover and sowing pockets or something into it so I can insert the cardboard boxes easier in case I ever need to do this again in a pinch
(overkill I know but I also work weather claims on a daily basis so I get reminders daily of what hail can do- and I don't want my truck totaled out (its not worth a whole lot on paper)

Maybe make the pockets so they'd hold 1 inch foam sheets.

This is why I change my own oil...

This was on the Expedition. It couldn't be serviced by me last time and that was the result. I started loosening it up and it got tight. Uh oh. Kept loosening and tightening till it came out. Luckily the Napa in town was open today.

might be easier to get mover's blankets and sew on some straps ... I doubt hail will do damage on those thick padded blankets

That's actually a great idea for the guy that has everything. Steve, you should patent that idea. You can ask our resident Insurance Adjuster where the market is and target those folks.
