Raised White Letters Question

Hi All,

On my Xterra I have these sorta rugged looking tires with raised white letters. When they are cleaned and dressed they look awesome!

My routine has been to clean the tires with Wesleys which always brings back the white and then dress it with a tire gel using a high quality paint brush or use a water based product called premo on foam applicator. I then follow with a bunch of paper towels cleaning the ‘goop’ off the white letters.

I am looking for a better product or application method because as I dress the tires, some amount of grease or grime always manages to get on the white letters taking away from their ‘whiteness’. Regardless of how much I clean up the mess by paper towel the letters never look as good as they do right after the Wesleys. I have considered not using a dressing at all but the tires look allot better when they are dressed jet black. I am not looking for grease.

The pictures below show my results but its allot of work to do on a weekly basis and usually by the end of the week the white letters are allot less white.

Thanks for any suggestions;

Robert

Are you looking for an ultra shiney-type tire, or more of a matte finish? Most gel types are Petroleum based which promotes browning and such. Consider a water-based product in the future.

I don't know if this is a coincidence or not but I noticed it so here goes. Last time I washed my Tacoma and dressed the RWL tires, I cleaned the tires with Simple Green - straight since I was out of BLACKFIRE Gel Wheel and Tire Cleanerl. Then I dressed with Stoners MSLT as I always do. Spray on and walk away. This time my RWL stayed White much longer even with the heavy rain we've been having. Maybe I just cleaned them better so when the dressing started to fade they still looked white. :dunno I would think you would not see that much difference with a different cleaner since Wesley's is so highly regarded.

But back to your question - I really like Stoners MSLT. It's not greasy, easy to use, doesn't sling (although some report slinging problems) and you can vary the finish by using more or less product. I get anywhere from a week to two out of it. Plus It only takes a minute or two to redress between washes if you desire.
