Rain X Ultra Wax Liquid/Paste

I've searched and searched and come to the conclusions that 1) I'm blind 2) No one has ever mentioned this product before.

I am talking about Rain X Ultra Wax in Liquid or Paste form.

I've seen these products before and today I saw they were 1/2 price on clearance when I was picking up EO Wax As You Dry. I was going to pick up a box or two but something told me to consult with Autopia first. The last thing I want is to be stuck with another "okay" wax such as my two bottles of GT88 Polymer <insert jokes here>.

So, has anybody used this stuff?

So far i'm using Meg #9 and s100. I know Rain X Ultimate Wax probably won't be better than s100, but at 8 bucks Canadian it could be a steal.

Tell me what you think!

Thank you.

I guess not.

I'm fairly certain I searched for this stuff, just like you did and came up with zilch. Even the Waxtest guys forgot to cover this one!

For the price though, you could always try it out (surely you must have a "test car" someplace :D) and report back. I would. :)

Won't the price end up being about 1/2 the price of S100?

S100 goes so far it will probably last twice as long and end up being about the same overall cost.

You know the S100 is good stuff.:nixweiss

I'd open it and smell it. I figure it's a NuFinish clone, as they are all the rage these days in the everyman waxes. I think Prestone just came out with a NuFinish clone. If so, It'll last forever but strip all the goodness off your car. If you do a half year NuFinish (as I did) when you hit it with some enriching stuff like S100 or Zymol, the paint will go very dark (at least on my black car).

I keep my old NuFinish to use on my Mother-In-Law's car. It's better than most of the stuff on the Wal-Mart shelf...but it's not a product for me anymore.

I've used Rain-X Ultra Wax.......I liked it. It is very easy to apply and remove....dries to a white haze......can be applied in nice thin coats.

It has cleaning properties as well......so layering it is useless. I can equate it to Meg #20 polymer sealant.

The Rain-X left a nice slick surface very good shine and was quite durable. I aplied it on my fathers car in October and his car is still beading today.

Overall I'm satisfied for 8 bucks.

I've used the Rain X wax for about 2 years now. It is NOT a clone of Nufinish. It's a pretty good wax, easy to apply and remove but I guess all liquid waxes are. It lasts longer than Zymol, and the price is good.

I have also used it. I got it at Canadian Tire.

I goes on and comes off easy and it beads like a son of a gun!

Like the other poster said, it leaves a really slick finish.

It doesn't shine that well though. I put it on my silver Civic and it looked dull when compared to Pinnacle Paste Glaz.

I'm keeping it for my winter wax. Put a coat of Klasse on and top it with this and you should be fine for the winter.

About cleaning properties, I didn't notice any. I had a small blemish that was still there after waxing. i applied Klasse AIO to the spot and it took it right off. So if there are any cleaning properties, it is very minor.

BTW... I got the paste.

I just wanted to put new life into this tread and give some updated info. I purchased the liquid wax form of this at wal-mart for $3.75 thinking that it was a good deal. I own a subaru impreza with dark blue paint and this wax was IMO the worst wax I have ever used. The wax when on and off very easily, but left an extremely uneven finish. Streaks were quiet evident and required a lot of elbow grease to buff off. Granted, I'm a college student, so all of my work was done without the aid of a mechanical buffer. I would definately not recommend this wax to anyone with a dark colored car. As a point of comparision I have used the following consumer waxes and founn them to be better than the Rain-X wax : Zymol cleaner wax, Meguires gold class wax, Meguires cleaner wax, Eagle One carnuba wax, Turtle wax.

It's listed in the Wax Reviews here:

I always liked the paste version's ease of use and durability. It has good slickness and seems to give excellent protection against bugs and bird sh*t ("Nothing sticks but the shine," as it claims)

As noted above, it does have some cleaning properties and does not give as good a shine as some of the better waxes available. But for a cheap durable coat in the winter, or before a long road trip, it does the trick.

Read my review.....the next day it had NO beading or sheeting effect....and no slickness. I don't get how a wax could be so poor. I guess that's why it was $1.99 on sale

Sorry. I should have been clearer in my post. I was merely poining out that the product had been mentioned on this site (as the thread starter had stated he was unable to find references to it) and then describing my own experience with it. I did not mean for it to look like what I wrote was quoted from or based upon your review at the link provided.

...I also didn't realize that this link was revived from last year.

MattZ28, i think you got hosed on your bottle. I stated using it last summer because i despise NuFinish (the stuff streaks like crazy and leaves really nasty grease marks on my parent's cars). It worked pretty well. Doesnt last forever, but its good for 3-4 months. Whenever ive used it it beaded really nice and did so for a coupla months. AFter that, it diminished, but you can still tell its there. Also, didnt seem abrasive at all, not swirls, no nothing, just a decently shiney and slick finish. Not bad for the $5 i paid for it at wally world.
