Rain Dance Liquid Wax Anyone?

Yeah, as clumsy as I am, I think I would stick with paste so I don't have to shake the bottle and risk dropping it.:werd:

I can't talk, for some reason I keep dropping my bottles of Glyde clay lube...makes for an expensive soapy mess :o Fortunately the new black bottles aren't as fragile as the previous white ones, but the white ones were more readily identifiable as the lube.

Heh heh, I *still* think of the Mirror Glaze line as "oughta be in clear bottles" ;) I went through cases of #5 that looked just like that! Thanks for the memories, sure wish I'd kept a few of 'em.

I've still got a clear bottle of #4 and #5. My clear bottle of #7 (which back then was called "Sealer and Reseal Glaze" IIRC) is gone.

I bought 2 cases of the H5 glaze off of ebay. But the bottles have colapsed and some of the liquid glaze has turned to a semi-solid state. Shaking the bottle does not seem to do much good so I guess I have a collectors item. The box they came in is a collectors item also.

i just threw out a glass bottle of 1976 turtle wax, a tin of blue coral paste that was older, a tin of simonize, some other junk, and an old buffer that looked more like a large rice cooker. lol

Setec Astronomy- Right you are, #7 *was* called "sealer and reseal glaze"...how things change..

MDRX8- Interesting that the bottles collapsed!

JiggleRacing- That late '60s/early '70s Blue Coral paste was good stuff, a bear to use but man did it look great on black ss lacquer.

My #5 bottle is like that too...I thought it was a little extreme for just me squeezing out excess air...

Accumulator - yup, you are right!! I re painted my black IROC around 1987 and the BC is a leftover from that time (came with a cadillac my dad bought in the 60's). Smells like gasoline though! When I threw it in the trash last weekend I had to lean over and give it a final glance. Hard to throw away those $2 items sometimes. LOL!!

Rain Dance came out in '75, and was the first thing I used on my new '75 Cutlass. I was so impressed with it I continued to use it, exclusively, for the next 10 years. Got many compliments on the shine. I sold the car in '85. By that time, Rain Dance had moved from Dupont to Borden (I thought they made milk), but it was still made the same way.

RE: Blue Coral. I would never bring myself to throw out Blue Coral. That would be like throwing out Grandma (to one who lives in Cleveland, where it was made).

As I've mentioned in other threads, I have an unused Blue Coral kit (polish/wax) from the late 70's that I was saving for a "good car". Don't know when I'm going to get to use it ;)

My dad used to have a Cutless. I took a picture of blue coral was paste and rain dance in the metal container.

EDIT: I found it

Funny, that's exactly why I still have the Turtle Wax Polyshell System (also from the late '70's) pictured earlier in this thread. I was waiting until I owned a car that was worthy (my '78 Buick Century didn't seem to be the one).

Maybe it's time to break it out for my '06 Acura RL!

....dam, pulled them back out of the trash
Thank you Jiggle, it's been bothering me that you tossed those out ;) . If you ever want to sell that Blue Coral shoot me a PM.

A thread allowing us to reminisce about the past. I love it!:D

What I would really love though, is for it to quit raining so I could try this stuff out.:waxing:

I think my shoulder is still sore from using that on my parents '63 Chevy BelAir in the late 60's :chuckle: . If I remember correctly it looked pretty good, but what a bear to apply by hand! I should search eBay for an old can of that Classic Car Wax just to have as another dust collector.

JiggleRacing- I'm glad you saved them too. I went through a phase where I tossed out "useless" stuff and I ended up regretting it later.

I tried that after Consumer's Reports said how great it was back in (IIRC) '76. I was disappointed with how it looked and went back to #7 topped with #16.

I actually used rain dance until about two years ago pretty often. I was going through my dads old supplies and he had a bunch of it still in its original boxes. I was really pleased with how it worked on my Z (made it look really wet and brought the metallic flake out). I was especially happy for it being such an old wax.
