A friend just purchased a new vehicle a couple of weeks ago. While performing the first wash he noticed what he thought was rust on his roof. He inspected the "pits" and thought it was through the clear coat. After returning the vehicle to the dealership they clayed and removed all the pits.
Unfortunately I didn't get to see this in person. I've only experienced a rough feeling on new cars from rail dust.
Does rail dust get so heavy that it look like rust on new vehicles? Could it have penetrated the clear coat?
