Radar Detector

the V1 is a great detector...but for a hundred less (new) the passport 8500 is a fine alternative. It actually beat the V1 in a few range tests by quite a bit on side by side hwy test.

My Passport is awesome. Of course I'd love to have the V1 with its arrows and what not.

Thanks guys! This is a really great detector and will last a long time. I even have a 7 day return if anyone is interested!

Great stuff you got there and a very good deal also! Good luck!

The 8500 X50 is a very decent detector (I've owned one for quite some time) if laser is not a concern. The V1 has no competition in terms of laser detection. It's far ahead of the others.

For laser protection NOTHING comes close to the Laser interceptor! Good stuff. Its funny to see LEO's shaking the laser guns wondering whats wrong lol

I am a very happy customer with no monetary gains from this post :hifive:

I have an Escort Solo 2 radar detector that has saved me a few times. For me, my radar detector is like an American Express card... "don't leave home without it!" :grinno:

I've had a V1 for years, and I love it, but let's be honest--the V1, like *any* radar detector, is useless when it comes to laser. If it detects it, it's too late.

Actually, not necessarily true. I've gotten laser pops from the car in front of me several times. But if you're alone you're toast. I got hit this morning with laser on y way to do a detail. Fortunately, I was going 5 under... :)

Alright, fair enough. It's *close* to useless ;) I don't think I've ever picked up any scatter with my V1. Then again, there's not too much traffic where I live, so I'm usually not grouped up with other cars.

I like my passport but had to turn off the laser detection because of frequent false alarms. :(

Interesting - what was causing the false alarms? I've always found the laser alerts to be the most accurate fro the Pasport

I have a V1 and its the only radar detector i will ever use. its warned me of cops that are literally miles away. dont really need to worry about laser too much here but you do get them sometimes. if it was a problem i would for sure buy a jammer. as for laser false alarms, from what i have found they are mainly caused by red neon. some trailblazers and similar SUVs have neon third brake lights and sometimes makes it go off
