I have Zaino on my car right now, but want to experiment with a topper.

What do you guys think? Any experiences good or bad?

I'm thinking about OG Blitz, M Gold Class, P21S, or M #26 hi-tech.

I'll try whatever you guys think!

Thanks for your opinion.

Don't top zaino. The zaino will break down as will the topper. Its pointless and just not needed. Zaino looks great on its own, anyways.

I've topped with Blitz, turned out pretty good initially, but I won't do it again over Zaino. Like was stated, Zaino looks so good on its own, a topper only makes a very marginal difference in appearance. So, I prefer my topper of choice to be either Z2 or Z5.

Thanks for your help. Looks like I'll be sticking w/Zaino. I enjoy it for the durability, looks, and ease of use.

I've read this on other posts, but my paint does look marred, or "dead" in the direct light(on top, but sides look fine).

I just wanted the protection of Zaino(UV) with the daytime glow of a carnauba. If I wasn't impressed, I would Dawn and put some more Z2 on!

Blackfire's way too acidic for me-don't trust it. That's why everyone's BF shine is gone in two washes:(

Maybe I'll try some Blitz on the hatch, and see how it is.

:up Thanks again!

I've been reading up on it, and a carnauba on Klasse seems a tried and true way to enhance the klasse with a deeper, wetter shine.

should i strip the zaino and try klasse?? i want to try a carnauba with the protection of a polymer...

that's what meguiar's medallion is supposed to be, according to their tech support. they said it would last as long as #20 but with a better shine. I've been using it on my bmw since new, which was when I first started using it on the subaru.

do you use ZFX with your zaino?? that seems to lessen this "dead" effect, as does making sure to always have your final top-coat at the end of the day be Z2/FX. You may also, if you have 'marring', want to try adding on new/additional layers of Z5. I have had good luck adding 6 at a time, then adding 1-2 coats of Z2 on top. 3 if I'm feeling ambitious.

I'm not going to question you for going to OG Blitz from Zaino. Looks is a personal preference, and I respect anyone's decision and right to use whatever they want. BUT, I do question your source about carnauba use.

They said
in fact the carnauba car may look better because canauba
let's the paint breath.</blockquote>
I don't buy this at all. Once factory paint leaves the booth, and is a few months old, there is no "breathing." Paint is not a living organism and once it's fully cured, I don't believe it needs to breathe to maintain anything. I'd be willing to bet that whoever told you this is a seller of carnauba products, as many feel threatened by companies selling sealants taking away their business. This quote is from a boutique carnauba manufacturer: "What about comparing waxes by calling different wax manufacturers and asking them if their wax is better than another brand?

This is a total waste of your time. Do you actually think any manufacturer will tell you that a competing brand is better than their own?"

Take a look at myth #1 here: http://www.detailersdepot.com/facts001.html

I say all this just to let people like you know not to believe everything you read or hear. Do the testing yourself and see the results, that's where the proof is...

This has been an interesting, unusual, creepy, crawly, yuck project for us to work on for the last 2 weeks. I am a hard core detailer who engages in very unusual types of work. I love the challenge, the experience and results we are able to achieve for our clients. This type of work can wreak havoc in a detail shop so we must isolate the vehicle/persons and all contents from any work area to avoid cross contamination. (Sorry this place is closing as I have tons of very interesting stuff I would have loved to post.)

Anyway this work involves a Subaru Outback. A relatively clean vehicle completely infested with carpet bugs. Carpet bugs food source is fibers, they reproduce and eat voraciously the fibers of carpets etc. The traditional method is to steam, as steam should kill the larvae and bugs.. This however is not good enough for me as I know that steam will never penetrate thru the sub-padding etc.

We initially treated the interior to to kill the bugs and removed carpet, sub padding and mats directly to garbage container. We decided to check edges of seat covers for any evidence of the bugs and found none. Since I tend to be somewhat anal about things, I decided to remove seat covers from one seat that appeared to be in excellent condition...well low and behold these bugs were under the seat covers and burrowed their way down into seat sponges. We immediately disposed of every sponge and seat cover. We pulled apart all the door panels, sound materials covering walls and found that the bugs had built nests and had also burrowed into the nooks and cranny of all the sponges. You could also feel the exterior of the sponges crusty to the touch apparently these bugs leave their shells behind.

We did a complete strip down and replaced all sponge type materials, carpets, seats covers, sponges etc with new materials.

Unfortunately the person assigned to pull apart this vehicle was so FREAKED out by the experience he failed to take the opening shots before the vehicle was dis-assembled. He even lost the camera, we feared it had been dumped into the dumpster.. but like a detective I closed my eyes and imagined what he would do and checked the roof of the vehicle and sure enough it was there under the roof rack the black case made it look like part of the roof rack
