Quietest polisher?

I have a PC right now, and because I do all my detailing work in a townhouse, my neighbors want to kill me since the PC is really loud. I mainly do my polishing on 6 and after hours of doing that...I wouldn't blame them either if I had a neighbor like myself.



I read that Makita 9227 is fairly quiet, so I was wondering if someone could tell me the quietest polisher out there on the market? I plan on moving up to a rotary polisher, but there really isn't any competition for the PC anyway.
 
Apply a sound damping to your PC like Dynamat just don't plug the vents up, Your PC won't look pretty but sound level will be a lot quieter. You can layer it as thick as you want to. Heat might build up in the gear housing if ran for a long period of time, just don’t cover up the gear housing completely, do it in strips.
 
I don't remember exactly what the noise level of a PC is, but my two dual action machines (JDM Toshiba and Hitachi) are quite loud. My new (and very much loved) CYCLO is quieter, and out-performs them, too. Highly recommended!

That's right, you did get a Cyclo! I'm glad you like it and see the benefits of having one.:) Oh yeah, one of those benefits is that it's quieter.;)
 
With a PC/DA, most of the noise I get is from the vibration that's transferred to the body panels. So it's a lot louder in the middle of the hood compared to the driver's door.

Rotary is still loud, but it's most of it is from the machine itself.

I'd say the rotary is less irritating, and you should also be polishing faster so less amount of time spent irritating your neighbors.

Thanks. I think it's fantastic; except for applying some LSPs with my remaining 6" black pads, I don't see myself using the dual action units much from here on.
