Quick S100 Question

Do I have to wait between coats of s100? I'm getting ready to put on my 3rd and final coat of SG and will wait a day or two before using the S100. I want to put at least 2 coats of S100 on and didn't know if I needed to wait like you do between coats of SG (at least 24hrs).



Bottom line, can I put another coat of S100 on immediately after applying the first one? Or should I wait a day or two?
 
If you add a layer of s100 right after the first in MY OPINION you are just pushing around the first layer. I really don't think it layers, its more that you are replacing what wears off, I do put a second coat on after a few days to hit any spot I missed but I have never seen any improvement from multiple layers as much as I wanted to



Its so easy to put s100 down that I often put multiple coats on over a few days but I don't truly believe that im improving anything, more therapy for me, the solvents in the last coat simply kill the first coat, after all the solvents are there to make it easy to spread, how can they work on the second coat and then don't react with the prior coat?



Just so its clear what I said, go ahead and do it after waiting overnight, but does it result in any improvement or added protection???? I don't think so, maybe just hits the spots you didn't coat as well

It doesn't do much to layer carnauba over and over again in the same day. Give it a day to let the oils evaporate and the wax to dry or harden or whatever wax does. Don't be in a hurry to get a months worth of detailing done in one day. The difference between one coat and two coats is something that you will have a tough time seeing. Once coat looks just as good as two on the day of. Give it a week and then put another coat on and then you'll see the difference. Layering different kinds of wax on top of each other will create a different look if you want to try that. Layering the same wax on isn't going to change the appearance that much really. It depends on the color I guess.
 
The main reason I was wanting to do 2 coats of the S100 was to make sure I get an even application. You know what I mean, get any little spots I may have missed.

i just appled s100 last evening around 6 o'clock, anyway, can apply another coat after say 18 hrs instead of 24? this car is also in the garage.

Honda, like Jngr said, you really need to let the oils evaporate....I prefer to let it have some sun for a bit, then reapply......I usually wait a week or so......

That IS the standard answer :xyxthumbs Adding another coat after a week or so is a good idea. SOME of us :o sometimes add more layers (assuming it layers!) much more frequently. It's certainly NOT going to cause any kind of problem. At the worst you're wasting time and effort (both minimal), but if it makes you happy, just do it. It DID seem to improve the appearance of the XJS when I applied numerous coats pretty close together, both with Souveran and P21S, but maybe I saw what I wanted to see :) To me, it was worth the effort.



On a similar note, when I did my loaner-car detail, even my wife could IMMEDIATELY tell after I applied a second coat of Collinite within a day of the first one. And she even noticed the additional difference after a coat of Meg's #16 the next morning. I didn't even have to tell her I did any of these, she thought it was VERY noticeable..and her interest in THAT project was minimal to say the least.

Once you use S100 you won't worry about 2 coats for coverage. It spreads so easily it's hard to miss a spot!
