Quick Questions on the new HD pads.

Hey everyone!



My goodies came in today and I was wondering if the pads I recieved would fit ok with a Meg's W68DA BP. It's the only BP I have so I'm hoping they will work well together.

Secondly, which pads are best for the Polish and Speed. I'm thinking either the blue, green, orange pad, or all three would be good for the Polish and either the green or blue or both pads would be ideal for Speed.

I'm treading in new waters with 3D/HD products so any advice would be nice.

Part two - I've gotten very good results with SPEED and the HD Yellow cutting pad on a neglected Toyota that was black. That is how versatile SPEED is. Like most products, both HD POLISH and HD SPEED are pad dependent. It all depends on what you are trying to accomplish. I have also used HD POLISH with an Orange pad after wool and it worked to my satisfaction.



Again any of the pads you have ordered will work with both products. You just need to experiment a little because every car is different.

The W68DA is made for the 7" Meguiar's foam pads.... since the HD pads are 5.5" that plate will be too big unless it is cut down for use with those smaller pads.
 
Thomas - I found that HD Polish may very well replace the need for 205. How do you feel about this? I've yet to try it on a cutting pad, but so far I'm impressed with it. Also, it's much less oily than 205, but I've had great success when using 205 and H20 cyan.
 
I goofed, I have the W67DA BP, it's 5". I placed on of my HD pads on it and while it looks small, it appears to fit so I'm gonna try some trial and error on it when my rig gets back from the mechanics shop....go figure the day I want to try my goodies out.....boss man takes my rig away!! I'll try experimenting with the all the cutting & polishing pads, my rigs paint is fairly easy to work with so I'll start on the lower softer end and work my way up.



Ohh and congrats to you Thomas on joining the 3D/HD team!!
 
Glad it is a 5" plate. I saw you are close to Barry - I was going to suggest that you visit him and borrow 1 of his 9654 backing plate util you get a smaller size.



I really feel that you will be very impressed with both products. Step back and enjoy that gloss.

This is just my opinion: And I will take the Pepsi challenge any time.



HD POLISH - cuts better, the finish looks better, in fact way better. Comes off much easier. No contest. Even though 205 is a great product and saved my a$$ in the past. Which tells you how good HD POLISH is. Do try it for medium cutting and see how that works for you.

Thank you Thomas! I was able to do about a 3x3 section on the roof of the rig with one of Meg's yellow SB 2.0 pads, I must admit I'm very impressed at what I was able to do to the paint that hasn't seen any kind of polish/wax in it's 10 years. I worked it in for about 2-3 minutes and the paint now looks as good as the rest of the rig! I tried it also by hand with a Meg's yellow hand pad above the rub rails and the results were equally astounding.....can't wait to see what the rest of the roof is gonna look like. I'll post my initial findings sometime this afternoon/tonight.



Barry is very close to me and he's invited me up to try some buffers before settling in on what's gonna work best for me. This group has a lot of good folks and I'm glad to be apart of, I'm sure I'm only going to get better at this as time goes on!
 
That is great to hear. The more time you spend here the better you will get. Also having Barry close to you is a huge +!!! Talk about being lucky, you are very fortunate. I wish I lived close to him when I was starting out. He is one of the very best out there.
